Ever since his days on Game’s once-promising Black Wallstreet imprint, Ya Boy has been an artist consistently on my radar. His whole career, this Bay Area/LA mainstay has displayed both consistent bars and a keen sense of crossover appeal that most rappers lack, which have kept his music in rotation and even earned him ink with Konvict Music. Yet, despite over half a decade of grinding and now having Akon’s enterprise behind him, K-Fed’s faux-hawked former ghostwriter still hasn’t seen more than regional success.
Obviously not one to give into pressure, Ya Boy sticks with the consistency regardless and drops “Come N Go,” an organ-laced, singalong sendoff to all the side-chicks and senoritas he leaves behind in order to stay sucker free. It might not put him on the map, but letting loose solid efforts like this only stockpile the quality in his catalog.

Ya Boy – “Come N Go”

YB! I haven’t seen you guys post any tracks from him before. I’m from the Bay and I’ve been listening to him since ’04.
He’s an amazing lyricist with great charisma, but he hasn’t released an album since his first in ’05. If he released a quality mixtape with all original beats and no features (his tapes usually have too many features) he could build a bigger fan base.
As I mentioned on 2dopeboyz yesterday this is the 1st YB track I have really liked in awhile! Hopefully his major album release Kalifornia Konvict has a lot more material like this & his mixtape The Fix!
Man, haven’t seen this cat in a whiles…
I did like him though, hope he can make some noise again. There needs to be a mainstream voice from the Bay…
This was the jam. Last time we posted Ya Boy, i believe.

For me, Ya Boy has always = Jayceon Lite. Fucked up part is at this point, I’m not sure if Jayceon is better then the cats he influenced.
I still fuck with some of his stuff & this joint has wings. But dude signed to Akon & the only way to get an album on shelves on Konvict Records is to get another label to co-sign ala Cy-Hi The Prynce & Red Cafe or happen to be named Lady Gaga.
I think Ya Boy needs to pursue the first option.
I really liked his first album Rookie of the Year, but haven’t really heard the same originality/hunger in the music since he left the Bay. I still like what he does when he guests on bay area projects, but his own stuff kind of sounds generic.
