A month ago, Miss Info and I had a brief exchange regarding Lloyd’s “Lay It Down” and how the track had a youthful sound that reminded me of how music is meant to excite and create energy. My understanding came from being at local high school basketball game and watching a pack of seven, little raggamuffins pseudo-crooning their hearts out in the bleachers as the tune played during halftime. As I loosely remember it, Info and I agreed that the whole surroundings of the song take you back to when it was “cool” to like songs from the radio. Coming from the upcoming King Of Hearts album, the track’s juvenile to a degree but Lloyd’s lyrics and singing are pure and Polow’s sonic beat entraps the body.

So tapping R. Kelly to remix such an innocent song causes me to squirm a little. Jeezy? He’s reaching Detox status, where each time I see his name appear in association with music, the only reaction I have is to ask “Where’s TM103?”

Dah well.
