Kanye West, Rick Ross, Jay-Z & Nicki Minaj – “Monster” Video

12.30.10 Written by Gotty™

Just when it seemed safe to bet that Kanye was done for 2010, the Internet gods have granted the world with the “Monster” video. Albeit, this is an rough cut akin to watching a bootleg movie but we know that won’t stop most from clicking play just to see what Kanye and friends did with one of the most charged tracks from Fantasy…. When Bob Spoke, We All Listened

12.29.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Nowadays, smoking marijuana is likely the most accepted illegal activity. Inhaling the occasional blunt or doobie is so common these days full fledged videos are uploaded everyday with no fear of retaliation. And that’s fine. You live your own life and from that you deal with the consequences – if there are any.

Still, visit any weed smokers house/apartment and I’m willing to bet Read the rest of this entry »

Gilbert’s Buzzer Beater Bounces

12.29.10 Written by MZ

With his reinvigorated play as of late, Gilbert looks like he dipped in Ponce de León’s pool shortly after landing in Orlando. Conjuring up a little bit of magic on Monday at the end of the third second quarter versus the Nets, Arenas hit a 3/4 length buzzer beater that was all for naught because the shot clock is considered out of bounds. Tory Lanez – “Say Hello”

12.29.10 Written by Beware

It’s one thing to start your craft at an early age, but it’s another to be sitting atop of it before you can legally smoke a cigarette. I’m not too familiar with Tory Lanez tunes, but based on “Say Hello,” the grown-up-sounding lead single from this 17-year-old singer/songwriter/MC from Brampton, Ontario, it’s apparent this prodigy with a pen has been doing his thing quite for some time. Statik Selektah & Termanology Commanded 1982 In 2010

12.29.10 Written by TC

Earlier this year, the unfortunate death of of Keith “Guru” Elam from Gang Starr saw the end of an era where a producer and MC created a unified duality to consolidate the quality control for an entire LP. Or has it? 2010 has seen a rebirth of the practice where cohesiveness trumps catchiness. Read the rest of this entry »

Campa – “Little Devil”

12.29.10 Written by Beware

By now, you’re probably at least familiar with The Cataracs brand. Respectively Campa and Cyrano, these two LA-based ‘technohop’ singer/songwriter/producers were the brains behind Far East Movement’s Top 40 monster “Fly Like A G6,” a few choice songs from Aaron Smith’s Love Stoned release and most recently Bigg Snoop Dogg’s slippery single, “Wet.” Either way, the member whose name is easier to pronounce has dropped the next addition to their hitlist, with Campa’s extra catchy “Little Devil.” Read the rest of this entry »

The iPod Shuffle – “In My Neighborhood”

12.29.10 Written by Gotty™

While Das EFX was tongue twisting and bum-stiggity’ing there way along the East, Spice 1 was utilizing a similar highly stylized, rapid-fire delivery but added more local color to his lyrics. The result was a debut album full of tracks similar to “In My Neighborhood.” I was going to roll with the video but YouTubey disabled embedding on it. Read the rest of this entry »

Video: Kanye’s Devil In A New Dress Has A Face

12.29.10 Written by J. Tinsley

In my perfect world, Kanye’s upcoming moves to continue to promote his 4.5 Cig effort would go down like this:

– Drop the video “Monster” on New Year’s Day.

– Perform “All Of The Lights” at the Grammys with all 11 artists.

– Follow up with the video for “Devil In A New Dress.” Read the rest of this entry »

Homeboy Sandman, Moses Rockwell & P SO – “King Of Kings” Video

12.29.10 Written by Ben Lampin

With the click of a Walkman closing, Homeboy Sandman, Moses Rockwell and P SO deliver a clear message to the masses. Hearkening back to the days of the portable tape player, these New York representers have come to flash skill like they did back in ’86. Tossing off verbal darts over a laid-back beat from Jah La Eer, each of these emcees make it clear there’s plenty of talent living in the Big Apple today. Read the rest of this entry »

Denzil Porter – “Intuition” Video

12.29.10 Written by MZ

I don’t have much in the way of back story on who Denzil Porter is other than he’s 22 & from The Bronx. All I know is some his name popped up in the RSS feed, I decided to take a chance and, barring what I ate for dinner that night, it was probably the best decision I made in the past 24 hours. His flow may be a little off-kilter & his voice may not be to everyone’s suiting, but boy does he know how to weave a story together. Read the rest of this entry »

When Amar’e Put LeBron On A Poster…

12.29.10 Written by J. Tinsley

This is for the city of New York. This is for those who love the word “contraction” and hate those unfamiliar with its meaning. This is for all those who still have a bitter taste in their mouth because of “The Decision.” This is for those who simply do not like LeBron James. This is for those who despise Phil Knight, Nike and myself for having a vice grip on the Jordan Crawford footage from last summer. But more importantly, this is for the people of Cleveland. Terrace Martin Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Kurupt & Bad Lucc – “Get Bizy”

12.29.10 Written by Beware

While a few other sites had this listed without Terrace Martin, it’s only right to include his name in the tagline, seeing as it’s obvious he orchestrated the track. Upon hearing the Hip-Hop aficionado introduce these three California bar-brawlers, then lace them with his weighty drums and violin-based beat, it became obvious whose idea the MPC concoction was and who decided to call over the hottest MCs he could find for an impromptu studio session.

And, I’ll tell you what, I think Bad Lucc and young Kendrick brought the best out of Kurupt.
