Lil Wayne Feat. Cory Gunz – “6’7″”

12.14.10 Written by David D.

Finally. A few Weezy fans are probably uttering that word right now, but I’m saying it because after years and years…and years of saying Cory Gunz is on his way, the NY fire spitter finally has a co-starring role in a monster track. Read the rest of this entry »

The Cool Kids – “Big Talk” Video

12.14.10 Written by Ryan J.

The longer beat-thirsty Cool Kids fans have to wait on When Fish Ride Bicycles, the more Chuck and Mike look like they’re serving up their own deep dish of Windy City Detox. What’s it been now—like three years, two EPs and a few record labels? Although a 2011 release date has been set, actions are easier said than done, leaving an album that still only seems good in theory. Read the rest of this entry »

Smoke DZA – “Ralph Lifshitz”

12.14.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Looking at the title on first glance, my first thought told me Smoke was paying homage to that character from the Rugrats, Dr. Lipschtiz, from the mid ’90′s. Oh, don’t front like you didn’t watch that cartoon with your younger relatives way back when. Everyone (except Gotty™) did. I quickly realized the error of my assumptions, Read the rest of this entry »

YP & DJ RTC – No Sleep

12.14.10 Written by TC

Good musicians embody their environment and convey their entire life experience through their music. After one listen of YP’s No Sleep, you’ll know he’s 100% Chicago from his slang all the way to bone-chilling production he wishes to serve as the template for his 24/7 grind. Bleeding 773 with his every act of microphone malice, the young Bull links up with not one but two Chi-Town powerhouses in RubyHornet and DJBooth and uses his spotlight to deliver a project stuffed with realism while others would squander their new audiences’ attention with surreal fluff. “Imma G Boy” – Review Of Cassidy’s C.A.S.H.

12.14.10 Written by MZ

After parting ways with Swizz Beatz and his Full Surface imprint, Cassidy is starting back at square one with the release of his fourth studio album C.A.S.H. (Cass A Straight Hustla). Acquired by Carmelo Anthony’s Kross Over Entertainment, the Philly native isn’t going at it alone, but he’s definitely in a rebuilding phase. Read the rest of this entry »

Dirty Money – “Someone To Love Me” Video

12.14.10 Written by TC

That last train to Parie is full steam ahead and now, Diddy-Dirty Money needs to find someone to hold and care for his tender heart in the wee hours of the night. He’s got plenty of baby momma’s and even more money, so, ladies if you’re interested, start practicing your best “sure I’d love to sign a pre-nump face” and brave the freezing cold in your most expensive outfit to cop his new album. Amazon May Have It All Figured Out

12.14.10 Written by David D.

Recently, I read this article about how Amazon was selling My Beautiful Dark And Twisted Fantasy for $3.99. Basically the article read like this:

“Blah blah blah Amazon MP3s are $3.99.”

I immediately scooted over the Amazon to see if I could grab some cheap albums. At this point, buying the physical copies is getting to be a hassle and I just want to put my money up to help support artists. Read the rest of this entry »

Yo Gotti – Cocaine Muzik 5: White Friday

12.14.10 Written by TC

Live From The Kitchen is never coming out but never fret trap boys and girls. Yo Gotti is back in the streets doing what he does best: passing out samples of baking soda-infused cocaine nuggets ’til the fiends keel over and die. Record label who? The Memphis kingpin does his own thing and he’s doing it well with help from Ciara, Waka Flocka Flame and Bigga Rankin. Gotti just turned surrended himself to the proper authorities because he’s a G like that but his music will do his bidding in his time off the streets. Read the rest of this entry »

XV – “The Flying V” Video

12.14.10 Written by Beware

Only XV would reference The Mighty Ducks. For the first visual from his latest mixtape Vizzy Zone, this Wichita rhymer cheaply grimies up his style of heavy on the light punchlines by putting himself in an atmosphere that could use a good sweep. Read the rest of this entry »

Erin Christine – “Say” Video

12.14.10 Written by Gotty™

The ability to emote honesty in song takes courage. Yet it’s the stripping down of oneself which creates an earnest relationship with a fanbase, the vulnerability creating affability. As a listener, I take comfort in knowing that not every artist – male or female – is an invincible superhero incapable of fear and hurt. Read the rest of this entry »

12.14.10 Written by Gotty™

Neon Indian – “Children Of The Revolution”

12.14.10 Written by Beware

The genre loosely referred to as Indie Rock is not something I keep up with, but rather something I let come to me. That said, Neon Indian’s actual band name might ring more bells than the organic dance outfit’s actual music, but if their catastrophic cover T. Rex’s “Children Of The Revolution” is any indicator of how reckless their sound is, my horizons might have to be broadened. Read the rest of this entry »
