In an interesting turn of events, Maino and Swizz Beatz round up fellow NYC ambassadors in Jim Jones, Jadakiss and Joell Ortiz and instead of having an East Coast pow-wow kicking rhymes about bodegas and Belvedere®, the G-Men opt to revisit a West Coast staple that is instantly recognizable the moment the needle hits the vinyl’s groove. Which, poses a problem, for Hip-Hop enthusiasts such as myself.
In order to really keep this thing of ours really “rockin’”, we need to further our line of creditability and continue to make newer hits that will stand the test of time instead of always going back to ride the wave of a proven melody. Assuming this will be on one of Maino’s upcoming projects, the hourglass for this joint’s longevity has already been turned over before it was even released.
Sad really. This veteran bunch could probably really come up with something special, given the right amount of effort and creative space.
Got it from Swizzy.
