It’s always nice when a random blog-roll inclusion delivers an unexpected ditty. Gospel Music’s “Automobile” might not be something you would jam to initially, but has enough songwriting spell to entrance you into humming the carefree cocktail all day à la your local roofer’s TV jingle. Expect the band’s creator, Black Kids‘ bassist Owen Holmes, to be receiving checks from at least one car company’s advertising department relatively soon because of how incredibly catchy this song with Camera Obscura’s Tracyanne Campbell is.
Cop this joint and the rest of GM’s Duettes EP if you decide you need to put on for your whip and can’t completely vibe with tracks about middle-aged wheel-sizes and Crayola paint jobs.

Wait… so this isn’t a cover of the NWA classic featuring a gospel choir?
Before I get into this next comment i just want to say that I like the song. It’s cute. Now with that said…
Let’s see how long it will be until:
-Hipsters start calling their cars “automobiles”
-someone uses the song for a commercial
-Some indie movie uses it
-Everybody loves it until it gets too popular then starts hating it
-Some jackass samples for their song
Cute song though. I like it.
I will be sampling this then selling the beat to G.M. Then when a hipster disses the commercial, they will be slapped. Now I already hate the song.
