“This is my momma sh!t
I used to hear this through the walls in the hood when I was back on my pajama sh!t
Afros and marijuana sticks
Seeds in the ganja hat had it popping like the sample that I’m rhyming with
Pete Rock, let the needle drop
I seen so much as a kid they surprised I don’t needle pop
Taking sips of pop, six pack of Miller nips
Pink Champale, Ballantine ale
Bally’s on my feet help me balance out well
That and the sh!t I used to balance on the scale
I got it honest from the parties from my momma’s
Virgin Mary’s try to judge her, I’m like “where the Madonna’s now?”
Give all glory to Gloria, they said “you raised that boy too fast but you was raising a warrior”
We victorious, they’ll never take the joy from us…uh!”

Jay-Z from “The Joy” from expectantly the forthcoming album Watch The Throne.
Simple, short and sweet. That’s how Jay was known to kill them before anyone gave a hoot about his music (RE: the mainstream). Although he’s never really strayed from revealing the ghettoness that kept the prissy chicks from throwing him any holla, his more commercialized beat selection as of late has somewhat disconnected his blurbs from anyone outside of the burbs. The same can be arguably stated for Kanye as well.
Leave it to Pete Rock’s simplistic yet timeless Mayfield sample to help them remind us of where they came from.

i likes this …..
I seen so much as a kid they surprised I don’t needle pop
dudes 40 something i stopped there
nice.. Missed these. Can’t use “shit” anymore, though?!
That Madonna line was hot. I’ve gotta admit, Kanye has brought out the best of Hov. All his G.O.O.D Friday verses + his Light Up verse > Blueprint 3.
Pink Champale, Valentine L

Pink Champale, Balentine ale

“Give all glory to Gloria, they said “you raised that boy too fast but you was raising a warrior”

That’s a great line.
Leave it to HOV to name drop a $20 12oz bottle of beer
Although….I would picture dukes sippin’ on some Utopias or Carlsberg….Ballantine seems too regular folk for HOV
This MAY be my favorite GOOD Friday release so far. That Mayfield sample was legendary.
“What’z more tipped-out dawg iz they sistaz – Naw you ain’t listen they black – They sistaz – They mama named after white b#%chez”
jays verse is def notable but ye’s is also noteworthy
“this beat deserves Hennesy a bad bij anna bag o weed the holy trinity in the mirror where i see my only enemy ya lifes cursed well mines an obscenity”
Kanye won this one…
^I was gonna say the same thing Deen. Chalk one up for ye
All his G.O.O.D Friday verses + his Light Up verse > Blueprint 3

Trill talk.
If they take it seriously and don’t treat it as a cash grab (which is what happened with BP3 IMO) this Jay-Z/Kanye album could be a real problem. Come to think about it, Hov’s been on such a tear lyrically post BP3, if it was up to me (which it obviously isn’t) I’d put that joint LP on hold and have the old head lock in the studio for his next solo, something to help me completely forget BP3 happened.
But if not, these G.O.O.D. Friday joints are already doing a good job of that, along with slowly re-establishing my respect for Hov on the mic. He shoulda been making these kinda songs all along.
@ B-Boy-Rock-Star
My favorite damn line. teehee, “white b****s.”
My watch do illuminate, my pockets are naughty
I remember reading an article back in the day (I think it was on this tss) about how Lupe wrote an article in response to a writer criticizing his work and that he should have done a song. Glad to see Jay Z is changing his approach to things
watch the throne !
People always talk really bad about Blueprint 3. I wasn’t crazy about Hate, Venus vs. Mars, and the beat for A Star Is Born, besides those I was feeling pretty much the whole album. And then those same dude sit there and bust a nut over Jackie Chain, smh…
This track wins so far.
Pete Rock still got it, and props to Kanye for not forgetting it.
Pete Rock, let the needle drop
I seen so much as a kid they surprised I don’t needle pop
======================================
I seen so much as a kid they surprised I don’t need a pop
bp2 was ass.
no substance.
bp3 i mean
I seen so much as a kid they surprised I don’t needle pop
dudes 40 something i stopped there
————————————-
the hell are you talking about?
kids these days have no respect smh.
My fav GOOD friday track, what’s better is that it lived up to the expectations. If Rza, Pete Rock, Madlib, No ID and Ye produced all of Kanye and Jay’s album it could and should be somethings special.
