Without sounding sensational, it’s a safe wager to assume that Compton hasn’t seen a kid this celebrated since Eric Wright and friends kicked in the door for their city and the whole coast. And while “Michael Jordan” isn’t my favorite track from Overly Dedicated, the purpose is served by letting the world know Kendrick Lamar is confident & well suited for carrying the city on his back.

This is like my least favorite track on the mixtape . . .
This just shows his diversity, this sounds like some trunk rattling Southern music!
Don’t wuwwy!
First time hearing this dude and likely to be the last. But Q made this song slightly digestable.
Marcus – check this song instead

I would like to submit a “this” post right after everything you just said. “Michael Jordan” and “Alien Girl” are the two worst songs on a mixtape that Ive been most enamored with.
We need more “The Heart” pt 1 & 2 and “I Do This” the OG and Remix and less “MJ”.
…With the occasional spazz out verses like “Monster” and “Look out for Detox”.

Just so you know, THIS is as bad as it gets. He really is a jewel to find hommie.
I don’t see how you could hate the track! Yea it isn’t his best but it just shows Kendrick’s versatility & the video pretty dope too! BOUNCE BOUNCE BITCH! Shouts to very dope looking Kanary D on the cameo too! HII POWER!
PS – She a pretty dope MC herself too!
I think it’s voice on this more than anything. It aint my favorite, but it’s far from skippable.

Its a very playable track and it serves it’s purpose.
his feature verse with skeme was nice.

_____________
absolutely. he just swerved out of the lyricist lane on this one. live, he can’t be denied.
Listened to “Detox” and then came back to “MJ” (listening and not watching). Despite the fact that one is a freestyle and one is a song, I think they are light years away from each other.
MZ said it best “I think it’s voice on this more than anything.” It sounds like he rapped without ever hearing the beat. Or maybe it’s just that Q was better suited to attack this type of beat. *shrug*
Whatever it is, I’ma recount and give him a mulligan on this one.
U n*ggaz krazy!…That sh*t is crack rock!
i fux with his music, but this songs basura
Oddly enough this song/video was my foray into his music and it made me interested in checking him out. Showed that he had some style and something unconventional that separates him from the pack. Upon checking his tapes I was very pleasantly surprised at his abilities and style which is definitely different from this track.
There is something disjointed about this track that I really enjoyed, it kind of seems like Kendrick’s ode to lil wayne and his influence on him with his delivery and word selection.
