TSS Presents Smoking Sessions With Waka Flocka Flame

By TC / 10.26.10

Waka Flocka Flame.

No need for formal introductory irrelevance. You know the name well since you first saw it embedded into your eyeballs and you had to convince yourself that his name was actually WAKA FLOCKA FLAME. But from all the preconceived notions built around the man who bullied his way into our headphones with “O Let’s Do It” a year ago, how much of has the media portrayal affected your views of him. While most outlets opt to scrutinize first, TSS would rather see what’s good with the origins of Flockaveli and his reasoning for being here to all the other BS.

But this is still WAKA FLOCKA FLAME we’re talking about so results are completely unpredictable.

BOW! BOW! BOW! BOW!

TSS: I saw your L.A. show on Ustream the other day. So do you think the West Coast crowd was ready for your brand of crunk?

Waka Flocka Flame: Oh yeah! They turnt out! They was definitely readddddy!

TSS: Now, you hit the charts with Flockaveli. Most people are likening it to a direct reference to Pac. Where did you get that idea to go with that name?

Waka Flocka Flame: I got that Flockaveli from the Niccolò Machiavelli story. The book. If you understand the Machiavelli story, then you’ll understand my life and figure out the reasons behind the title. If nobody understands the title, I’ll explain it after you read the book.

TSS: So there’s no play on Pac at all?

Waka Flocka Flame: Yeah, Pac introduced me to Machiavelli, of course. But then I took it from there.

TSS: Gotcha. The “Bustin’ At ‘Em” video drew a big response and even prompted people saying you advocated cop killing…

Waka Flocka Flame: No I’m not. I got that concept from the Summer of Sam. That’s the movie I’m reenacting.

TSS: Now that you have a full-time job away from the streets, you think that mentality is going to change?

Waka Flocka Flame: My mentality?

TSS: Yeah, to a more positive outlook.

Waka Flocka Flame: Yeah, it had to!

TSS: Listening to Flockaveli, it’s 100% aggressive and devoid of any type of “girl records” like most albums these days. Did the label approach you to try and make you do one of those?

Waka Flocka Flame: Nope! They let me do what I wanted to do. Can’t nobody make you make any music that you don’t wanna make. Remember that.

TSS: Did you intend to be considered “controversial” with everything that you’ve done thus far? Was that the goal all along?

Waka Flocka Flame: Nah, my goal was to make good music and keep my name poppin’. That’s the goal right there. I didn’t never feel I had to drop names or none of that other, you know what I’m saying? I focus my energies more so on staying original.

TSS: Do you think you’ll ever be able to dodge controversy?

Waka Flocka Flame: I don’t think nobody will ever be able to change that, feel me? But I don’t give a fuck!

TSS: With that being said, any time in your career thus far, do you think you’ve given off the perception of being something that you’re not?

Waka Flocka Flame: Hmmm…playing stupid, maybe. I play stupid.
