KiD CuDi Feat. Cage – “Maniac”

10.11.10 Written by J. Tinsley

G.O.O.D. has been on fire for the past few months, both on and off the mic. Sean dropped a dope tape. The roster continues to get stronger. Charlie Wilson is singing his heart out with every opportunity. Kanye’s being Kanye. But it’s KiD CuDi who may be the most intriguing as of late. Given his recent actions, this may be the most aptly titled song in recent memory. Read the rest of this entry »

Your NFL Recap: Week Five

10.11.10 Written by Patrick M.

Yeah, Week Five saw more upsets than a March Madness Friday, but don’t look for any Cinderella stories coming out of this week’s surprises. These upsets stemmed from an epidemic of sloppy play affecting supposed contenders like San Diego, Cincinnati, Green Bay and New Orleans. Common symptoms of this disease include horrible special teams play, coaching gaffes, dumb penalties and costly turnovers. Read the rest of this entry »

Ice Cube Feat. Maylay & W.C. – “Too West Coast” Video

10.11.10 Written by Raj

I was raised by three commandments. Gangsta Rap > Hipster Rap. Tupac > Biggie. And “Hit ‘Em Up” > everything.

I’m a born and raised West Coast cat and, even though Pac was before my time, he was still the first rapper I was blessed enough to hear. Since then, my iPod has been stacked with tracks from him, Eazy, Snoop, Ren, Crooked I, Game, the D.O.C. You name it and I got it. However, there’s one exception to my undying West Coast attachment and that is the 2008-present Ice Cube. Read the rest of this entry »

Joe Budden Feat. Crooked I – “Sober Up”

10.11.10 Written by TSSCrew

Words by C. Paicely

I got to know her on my sofa/I gave her my honorable discharge and she took it like a soldier.”

Yes. Mouse is back, a week later, with leak number two from his upcoming release Mood Muzik 4, and the title of this project is making more and more sense. While the first leak, “Black Cloud,” had that therapeutic and confessional mood that always seems to add to Joe Beezy’s lyrical muscle mass, “Sober Up” uses an oft-used line from Tupac’s “Hail Mary” to strike a less apologetic tone for his behavior. Curren$y – “Michael Knight”

10.11.10 Written by Gotty™

Six months can fly by at an alarming speed, especially in the world of entertainment. Spitta’s set to release Pilot Talk 2 on October 26th, in what seems like a short time span since the Pilot Talk landed on our digital doorstep. In ways, the shortened gap between releases signifies our artists beginning to smarten up and presenting shorter works to fans Read the rest of this entry »

The Week That Was: The Road To A3C Edition

The Commodification Of The Modern Hoe

10.08.10 Written by David D.

Va$htie posed an interesting topic about the Sissification of modern man. It’s fascinating and something that we’ve all had to witness over the last few years. Basically, the idea is that a bunch of men have crossed the line from being fashionable to fashionistas. From mannerable to emasculated with the Ne-Yo’s, John Legends and hipsters leading the pack. In the Studio: The Kid Daytona x 9th Wonder

10.08.10 Written by Patrick M.

In order to build off the success of last year’s Come Fly With Me The Kid Daytona’s been hard at work on the follow-up The Interlude. And it looks like The Kid’s choosing his collaborators wisely, as he sent over footage of him and 9th Wonder working on “Fly Lullaby.”  In the vid, 9th drops the expected Hip-Hop intellectualism on the importance of interludes in  great albums past and how producers like Pete Rock influenced his beat-making.

The snippet of “Fly Lullaby” in the background sounds pretty damn good indeed, so here’s hoping Daytona backs up the vid and blesses us with the track later this week.
