Yeah, I admit, I’ve done some dumb shit/disappointed everybody, I know/try not to hold that against me though.

It’s cliché to start the second T.I. post in a month with a hilariously understated verse, but clichés be damned if this track isn’t dripping in irony.

“Get Back Up,” featuring fellow Taker Chris Brown’s harmonizing hook and production by The Neptunes, is nothing ingenuous musically: it’s another T.I. power ballad, filled with his new found self-righteousness, clanging 808s and a soprano chorus. however, its timing couldn’t be more interesting.

Whether this track was recorded before or after his latest arrest is inconsequential at this point. It’s naïve for Tip to think releasing a last-minute apology to fans will save his already wrecked public image. And while this song attempts to act quickly to mend a PR fiasco, assembling an all-star team for a final shot at atonement only reeks of insincerity. For a man whose MTV series was supposed to be his “road to redemption,” this song is already one strike too many for T.I. not to be out.
