I saw Dee-1 perform this a few weeks ago at the NOLA Summer Jam and it really got the crowd’s attention. Calling out Jay-Z, 50 and Wayne is an ambitious task to say the least, however this isn’t your typical unsigned rapper trying to pull the capes of the greats to get recognized. “Jay, 50, And Weezy” is a poignant look at these three men’s influences on the game and whether it’s really for the best or not.
Dee-1 is a dope rapper in his own right and has been getting quite a buzz in the New Orleans area. His new mixtape, I Hope They Hear Me Vol. 2 should be dropping pretty soon to give you a larger sampling of his budding talent. In the meantime, peep the video.

See, this is perfect. He pointed out the problem, and advised how to solve it. I gotta agree, he is a genius for this.
I’d like to see the artist’s reaction to this song. I like it.
Damn Chris Brown with dreads kill this Jay part.
Dope cut, thanks for sharing Dave.
“I ain’t on a major label, so they can’t delete this”
Damn this song is really, really good.
This song has a cool concept, a pretty refreshing message and it got better with each line. I like it.
I was expecting some super late beamer, benz, bentley joint & he came from straight left field. Extremely dope.
I’m listening now…
Now that was murder and those print out faces were laughs lmao
really, really good
Wow… !!! I’m Really Impressed…
Dis thing on smash!
finally, ive been waiting for a dope mc to call out all these rappers that say they feel the pain of the streets but spend a mil on chains, being bad role models. great song, great message
DAMN!
I definitely did not expect this. I haven’t heard a song that’s made me think in a long, long time.
I’m officially a fan of homie.
Used to live around the New Orleans area and never heard of ya boy until now…Very refreshing for the game, glad to see young brothers from the NO catching some shine.

This is exactly what’s needed right now. REAL TALK. Niggas need to stop being scared to say how THEY feel. You ain’t gotta be what you ain’t to be what you are.
Listen to our show!
Holla.
hes cool but it aint no teach me how to dougie
Woah….impressive….this is goin right into rotation
@Milkchocolate LMAO
I went to school in New Orleans for the past few years, and Dee-1 has definitely been gaining a small but loyal following down there for a minute now. Every track i’ve ever heard by him has been legit, but honestly I never really gave him the rotations he should’ve been getting considering the quality of his work. This song just might change that…
Very well written
the lyrics are above average
but the message is what makes this song worth listening too
well it looks like he knows whats going on i the world if you dont get the message then you just need to think harder about what he said
Just saw this on music television and it captivated me. This is hope that hip hop is still alive.
Calm down people if you think THIS song has a message, you have obviously not heard Blackstar, Immortal Technique, or any real rapper. Its cute that people who only listen to the radio now think that they listen to conscience music now. This song is simple, and headed in the right direction, but if this is the first song that has made you think in a while, then you are not a true rap fan.
^^^ Word. This is alright for a young dude, but he’s just complaining. Don’t talk about it, be about it. I want to see him get money like Jay-z and do what he’s asking Jay to do. The rap skills are kind of weak though. Im tired of hearing rappers bitch about other rappers too. Lol homie said the white man was the enemy. What is the, the south in the 1950′s ?
That nigga is tha rapper I been looking 4 “REAL TALK” that is, good work and big balls wish him luck in tha game but I thank WEEZY gone eatton up and shi. Em
Love it!
