Fight Night: The Last Moments Of Tupac Shakur

By J. Tinsley / 09.07.10

How ironic is it that Las Vegas would be the site of one of Hip-Hop’s most unforgivable sins? At this exact moment 14 years ago, no one knew the end of Tupac Shakur—arguably the most controversial rapper of all time—lie only moments away. In 2010, as I said before, many of the stories which defined his life are now common folklore in the halls of Hip-Hop. The beefs, the songs, the cases, the interviews. They’ve been examined to almost nauseating lengths.

Bill Clinton, can you recognize a nigga representin
Doin 20 to life in San Quentin
Gettin calls from my nigga Mike Tyson, ain’t nuttin nice
Yo ‘Pac, do something righteous witcha life
And even though you innocent you still a nigga, so they figure
Rather have you behind bars than triggers

from “It Ain’t Easy,” off the album Me Against The World (1995)

However, after tonight, one of his most storied, yet wildly unknown friendships will be brought to light. Reggie Bythewood and ESPN’s 30 For 30 series look to expose the tight knit bond between Pac and Mike Tyson tonight at 8:00 P.M. with the documentary “One Night In Vegas.” If you tune in, and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t, voice your opinion here. Bill Simmons already anointed it, so what other co-sign do you need?

Some people know this, some don’t, but Pac re-recorded his All Eyez On Me intro, “Ambitionz Az A Ridah,” for Iron Mike.
