While LeBron bolted for South Beach this summer, another all-star team was forming in LBJ’s former region: the Rust Belt (and Austin, TX) super squad of Freddie Gibbs, Chuck Inglish, Chip Tha Ripper, Bun B and The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. Uniting with director Dickford Dollas, the six finally produce visuals to Gibbs’ concluding track off his Str8 Killa EP, “Oil Money.”
Including everyone minus Auerbach, the video’s lethargic pans & cuts; in-your-face close-ups and solitary shots of Freddie perfectly visualizes a song oozing with angst and grit. And although the bearded Black Keys frontman is missing, his eerie chorus provides the perfect ominous transition between each rapper’s respective verse.
This is exclusively on the Str8 Killa EP. Runcopthat.

Works on paper and is even better on record.
But for some reason on screen they look to be one of the oddest assortment of rappers ever gathered together.

By the way, Dickford Dollas could have the best directing nickname out there.
