Barely Cracking The Surface: Crackdown 2 Review

08.13.10 Written by S.Cadet

Crackdown sold over a million copies in ’07 with much of its success attributed to it serving as an entry into the Halo 3 beta. Those who bothered to play it found an enjoyable action game full of wanton mayhem and some loose ends. It became a sleeper hit and fans waited patiently for a sequel. Well three years later you’d think there would be cause for celebration since Crackdown 2 (Xbox 360) is on store shelves. Actually, it’s a little more complicated than that. Nipsey Hussle Still Has South Central On His Mind

08.13.10 Written by J. Tinsley

No bullsh!t, I’ve been wondering what the hell happened to Nipsey Hussle for the past few weeks or so. Maybe he has been releasing music and I’m just not checking the right sites, but it felt like this freshman had been practicing the art of truancy. Thankfully, it seems as if Nipsey has enrolled back in classes and seems intent in putting on for his coast. Read the rest of this entry »

08.13.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Mac seems like the type of guy who lives for the weekend. True to his word, he’s here to Kick some Incredibly Dope Sh!t to make the next 48 hours something epic. This marks the recent high school graduate’s first official release since inking his deal with Rostrum Records a few weeks ago and one they’ve invested in quite heavily with a crazy P.R. campaign. Day One: Nike World Basketball Festival

08.13.10 Written by Gotty™

My feet have seen blocks and miles. My eyes have engaged in a battle of attrition, attempting to take in all the tall buildings and athletes. Nike’s vision for the World Basketball Festival has come to fruition, whirling caravans of journalists, photographers and bloggers around NYC.

My pics from yesterday are stored on my other camera, and I’ll access them later, but here’s a couple from yesterday’s media event at Radio City Music Hall, which included the full 2010 squad, and luminaries from Nike and USA Basketball. Below, there’s also footage of Jay’s full performance from last night. Read the rest of this entry »

Twista Feat. Raekwon – “The Heat”

08.13.10 Written by TC

Twista’s tongue-twistin’ has been his gift and curse when it comes to getting respect amongst the Hip-Hop consensus. Obviously his style has been bitten more times than Sookie Stackhouse but it still can be misconstrued that he’s all flow and no content. Well, his collaboration with Raekwon from The Perfect Storm should burn a disbeliever with every degree of his lyrical inferno. Read the rest of this entry »

Meek Mill Feat. T.I., Vado & Rick Ross – “Rosé Red (Remix)”

08.13.10 Written by J. Tinsley

A Philly cheesesteak would mean the world right now. An authentic one, like straight out of Philly. You know the ones that by the time you get to where you plan on sitting down to eat, the entire bag is covered in grease. Yeah, that one. Slightly changing topics and speaking of Philly and hunger, Meek Mill is currently finalizing the release of his upcoming project Mr. Philadelphia. Read the rest of this entry »

Invincible & Waajeed – “Detroit Summer/Emergence” Video

08.12.10 Written by TC

True story: the other week, I was rummaging through my limitless unread emails with Invincible’s “Deuce/Ypsi” inexplicably playing in my head. Then it occurred to me that Detroit’s very own superwoman had been inconspicuously absent for more than a little bit. I proceeded to take to her Twitter to yell for her to get back in the booth pronto, maybe even start a mini trending topic amongst her followers. Read the rest of this entry »

Young Jeezy x DJ Scream – 1000 Grams Vol. 1

08.12.10 Written by TC

Although a couple titles bill it as “Porshe” and “Drug Dealin’ Muzik,” Young Jeezy pulls up in his Camaro with a trunk full of kilos for 1000 Grams Vol. 1, a continued effort to garner some fanfare for TM103 and (not) diss Rick Ross. Read the rest of this entry »

Let there be no doubt Bun B has hustle blood running through his veins. Since the untimely death of his partner in crime Pimp C, Houston’s torchbearer has continued to grind, releasing three solo joints and showing up as a sidekick on more teams than Shaq. Event Recap: Chiddy Bangs’ Swelly Tour Hits The D

08.12.10 Written by Beware

Not every act can start off on a stadium tour. In order to achieve Madison Square Garden love the initial grind of hitting dimly-lit, small to medium-sized clubs, taking some fan photos and shaking some sweaty hands is a must. Such was the case this past Saturday night as the kids from Chiddy Bang brought their Swelly Tour to the basement of Detroit’s famed St. Andrews Hall. Read the rest of this entry »

Apparently You Can’t Go To War From An Island

08.12.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Two quick confessions:

1) I haven’t listened to more than 20 combined seconds of any new Shyne material since his release. Any person who serves their time and attempt to reacclimate themselves in society in a positive manner is fine by me. But no one, and I mean no one, is supporting the quality of this guy’s music.
