Nas is my favorite rapper of all time, but by no means the smartest and hardly the most consistent. This verse is sick and so is the beat, Puff and Big flipped the other half for Hypnotize. Listening to Rae’s Cuban Links 2, you can really see the Wu/Shaolin influence on the Queens emcee

Nas flow is straight nasty in a perfectionist type of way, he is one of the greastest mc (not “entertainer” cause he could kill shit accapella at the drop of a dime…I will agure that he writes most of his songs without a beat….for real tho what do picking beats have to do with mcing? The hip-hop culture I was raised in had the DJ backing up the mc’s ryhmes not the mc telling the dj what cut to put on….that’s just a one sample of how shitty fans messed up my second love only to the streets!!
