For as much as Freddie puts on for Pimp C, it’s good to see another one of the young upstarts show that same respect for Bun. As I’ve praised him, I’ve also been critical of his some of his output before. Still, I would never discredit what he’s accomplished, playing the role of voice and ambassador for the South when the region had no voice and few outlets. And for him continuing to embrace new artists daily, showing them how to navigate through the shark waters of the industry is testament of his nobility. UGK’s music helped to shape my generation of fans and, from the sounds of this track, Cole’s too.
And he’s surely just as capable as ‘Clef when we’re talking presidential potential.

TRA – Buddy is talented. He’s got a voice and abilities. Will he sell? Whole diff question. But I’ll be buying b/c he’s shown nothing but respect for traditions and, as a person, I can honestly say he’s been nothing but a good dude.
I’ve been lucky enough to speak w/a few people who’ve worked w/Jay in recent years and they all have the same intentions. He’s taught everybody around him to be humble and hungry. I think that’s what’s going to help Cole go further in this game.

Cole World is a beast. It took me awhile to co-sign his lyrical ability (I was waiting to hear more from him first), but he has what it takes.
The problem? He will never crossover because he is too lyrical. Jay needs to share how to stay an emcee yet make radio songs that get you to the masses (and more than just a Hip-Hop audience). But I am not holding my breath on that one.
This has been the downfall of many promising emcees.

Making a impact on the mainstream is too much of a hassle. He would have to dumb down the lyrical game by a mile to reach the mainstream.
Can’t he just make classic hip-hop for those who enjoy it? I never liked the idea of dumbing down your music to serve someone’s fancy…
