Consider this a friendly public service announcement. Remember when LC first put you on to Takers nearly a year ago? This was around the time when T.I. was slightly half way through his bid, Chris Breezy had yet to MJ and cry his way back into public affection and Idris Elba’s DJ’s abilities were still unknown to the majority of us common folk.

Turns out Elba (that’s Stringer Bell to you The Wire lovers) is putting together a compilation – a mixtape, if you will – to coincide with the release of his highly anticipated end of the summer blockbuster. This is where you come into play. You know that person who you believe has rapping/singing talent? Here’s his or her chance to add something worthwhile to their portfolio. Follow these steps.

1) Pick your 2-3 best songs

2) Make sure they are complete, audible records

3) E-mail Hanif Jainlett at bignif@gmail.com with contact information included

4) Do all this by August 23

Each submission will be given consideration. If you’re attempting to make a name for yourself and looking for free promotion, taking 10 minutes out of your day to do this can’t hurt. The final product will feature established artists (including Bun B for sure) and new discoveries (that’s you). Don’t say we never tried to help with career development. We’re just passing along the message. How you choose to act (or not) from here is up to you.
