Every SXSW creates new stars. It’s undeniable. Everyone that attends leaves the event excited about the performance of a relative unknown, claiming that said artist is going to be the next big music star. Last year was my first SXSW and the artist I pinpointed for greatness was B.o.B. This year I pegged two acts for stardom: Yelawolf and Rockwell Knuckles.
Though I had seen Rocky perform last year, the 2010 version was something wholly different. He’d found his groove, performing flawlessly each of the four times I saw him. It didn’t hurt that he had just put out a top-quality project with Choose Your Own Adventure. By the way, if you still haven’t downloaded it, you’re sorely missing out.
Since SXSW, though, Rockwell Knuckles has made me look like a fool. I’ve gotten a few people asking, “Whatever happened to that guy you were talking about in March?” Unfortunately I haven’t had an answer. I was just about to shoot off an APB on the guy when this track hit my inbox.
“Silly Human” has solidified the fact that Rockwell Knuckles and Trifeckta need to just sit in a studio and fed food in small rations until a full album is cranked out. The track takes a familiar sample and tosses it in the blender. Rocky hops in and pens another masterful hook in-between electric verses. The track is from Rockwell Knuckles’ new project, You’re Fucking Out, I’m Fucking In, which I am eagerly anticipating.
I’ve always wanted to do this.
It’s the FORCE!!!
