On your formal introduction to Cali Swag District, you saw them swagger jackin’ their way to a record deal with Capitol Records with “Teach Me How To Dougie.” The dance was popularized some two odd years ago by Dallas, TX rapper Lil Wil. Now with their 2nd single, “Where You Are,” the boy clan “borrows” some more inspiration to get them through the week.

Not only did fellow Left Coaster Murs use Michael Jackson’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are” as the template for “Can It Be (Half A Million Dollars And 18 Months Later),” it stands as one of his biggest commercial hits to date, so the bite is even more evident. But the big piece of chicken goes to the accompanying visual. Barely a week removed from Cee-Lo’s viral sensation of “Fuck You,” CSD strikes the hot iron with a similar Schoolhouse Rock style video.

Fresh Daily recently stated that this current generation’s music standards are very low. Without chastising any particular party, I have to humbly agree. Where there’s no pressure to achieve commercial stardom, things tend to be that way. At this  rate, CSD’s “Thank You” section in their album’s liner notes should be about five inches thick.
