On your formal introduction to Cali Swag District, you saw them swagger jackin’ their way to a record deal with Capitol Records with “Teach Me How To Dougie.” The dance was popularized some two odd years ago by Dallas, TX rapper Lil Wil. Now with their 2nd single, “Where You Are,” the boy clan “borrows” some more inspiration to get them through the week.
Not only did fellow Left Coaster Murs use Michael Jackson’s “I Wanna Be Where You Are” as the template for “Can It Be (Half A Million Dollars And 18 Months Later),” it stands as one of his biggest commercial hits to date, so the bite is even more evident. But the big piece of chicken goes to the accompanying visual. Barely a week removed from Cee-Lo’s viral sensation of “Fuck You,” CSD strikes the hot iron with a similar Schoolhouse Rock style video.
Fresh Daily recently stated that this current generation’s music standards are very low. Without chastising any particular party, I have to humbly agree. Where there’s no pressure to achieve commercial stardom, things tend to be that way. At this rate, CSD’s “Thank You” section in their album’s liner notes should be about five inches thick.

Anybody who says “swag” should get bitch slapped
Mhm, people are rewarding biting now a days. Damn shame.
*picks up big rock when reads that they sampled favorite Jackson 5 song*
Not bad.
*throws rock at CSD anyway for naming themselves Cali Swag*
BTW 50 actually used that sample really well around the same time as Murs
I live in Dallas and they are already not happy about them biting Dougie. Lil Wil has a video talking about the situation. and B Hamp (the guy that made that Rick Bobby song) supposedly sent them a verse for the remix that had NOBODY from Dallas. Side Note: Why the fuck was JD on the remix anyway?
Great idea to put your lyrics on screen for the viewers to read. Your fans can now see your lyrical prowess…smh.

yeah I was gonna say that.
50′s “King Mixtape”> Half his albums
swag is played. mohawks on black kids are played.
I just saw these guys live at a club in AZ over the weekend. I had no idea they were even scheduled to be there. They performed their 2 singles (over the regular vocal versions btw) then proceeded to perform everyone else’s hits for over 30 mins. From Drake to Rick Ross, no shame. Words cannot describe how wack these dudes are.
honestly dont know why folks in dallas are mad since they STRAIGHT JACKED that shit from… wait, who??.. oh, the dance’s namesake. Doug E. Fresh.
All of this shit makes me lol. i love it.
Thats the thing tho..We gave Doug E. props. nigga was all up in the video
plus Dallas still made it popular
@Trill
I get it… my thing is… what happened to being original. Or at least attempting to be.
these little niggas a lame
they aren’t artists. They are an industry-built hybrid of the New Boyz (who are honestly kinda dope) and the South’s dance crews.
Instead of creating trends, they are one. And that sucks.
am i a hater if i hate thes guys? cuz i hate thes guys……(been listenin 2 playa hater 2day) *harmonizes* plaaayaaa plaaayaa haaateerrrrrr!
@dj red x
now we all kno jermaine dupri has a tendency 2 hop on da hottest trend, ie dem franchize boys, or run wit da yongns, ie kriss kross, (lil)bow wow….now tht i thnk about it jermaine dupri is like tht creepy ol guy hangn around da middl school wit his hat backwards n his hi top sneakers.tryna yo-yo n be-bop wit da kids…
smh.
The only viable asset these little fuckers have is dancing around looking like its a party over here, so I don’t know why theyd go and make a video like this where it looks like they went through a bunch of MS Word fonts and threw it all in there
DOM KENNEDY > CSD
only naturally though. This shit don’t represent Cali. Dom & Crew represent Cali. Forget them other fuck boyees.
swag = fag in my damn book and they style stealing ass suck
@jonny gq.. my sentiments exactly. im 31 so ive heard the diffferent words over the years but this slang word gets on my last effn nerves. swag fags i call them.
@bruno i just wish JD would stop saying he hustled from the bottom to the top. We all know his dad was former president of Columbia.
The Youngstas used this sample on the No Mercy album, and their use shits on everyone else’s.
Ipso. Facto. Cunto.
