Although he’s released more than his fair share of material either as a solo artist and with Hawthorne Headhunters, Black Spade has never dropped a mixtape, unlike most artists in today’s landscape. I should know because I’ve been buggin’ him for years to be the ones to push one if he ever decided to. And that time has finally come. Along with Union LA and Trackstar, we’re proud to present Black Spade’s newest audio offering, Build & Destroy.
For his first, Stoney Rock did it right by offering completely fresh material. Featuring friends and frequent collaborators like Coultrain, Adad, Rockwell Knuckles, Corey Black, Vic Mensah and Wafeek, Build & Destroy packs enough punch to hold fans over for weeks and months to come.

you guys should do a post on this,
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1999416,00.html
blatant fucking racism in 2010, backed by time magazine
^Key, you should chill the fuck out, lol.
I just read the article and thought it was more informative than anything. It’s pretty rare that a writer gets that honest on the subject of racial prejudices & sometimes you have to go somewhere uncomfortable to gain a better understanding of what’s going on. In that author’s case:
“I was trying to explain how, as someone who believes that immigration has enriched American life and my hometown in particular, I was shocked that I could feel a tiny bit uncomfortable with my changing town when I went to visit it. If we could understand that reaction, we’d be better equipped to debate people on the other side of the immigration issue.”
^from the bottom of the article you linked to.
@b.lluunndd
homie check this out, its a response from an indian american – http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/07/13/parikh.stein.rebuttal/index.html
honestly, i dont understand how time posted it…its not a subjective piece on how indian immigration changed the city, its a demeaning essay that clearly degrades the population, if he wanted to make it subjective, he needed to acknowledge another side of the argument and assess why that side is incorrect. instead he just strung together some racial epithets and claimed that it fucked up the city and that he hates it.
Basically, this is the shit!
^yo, that was an interesting read, but it doesn’t seem like Parikh read the original article very thoroughly either, haha.
I don’t want to wind up repeating the same thing over and over, but it takes some serious balls to write about race-issues, especially personal ones, in a manner that straight forward. He’s writing about the issue using the same language people in his town actually used to talk about their new neighbors, which is (rightfully) shocking to most people. But, like it or not, that’s the language being used around the country. Would he really be doing his job if he gussied it up just to avoid being offensive?
And if he’s ‘villifying’ the immigrant population of his hometown, what is he doing to the pre-existing white culture? His description of life before India moved in is pretty much that he and his homies ran around stealing pizzas, shoplifting random shit, watching smut & drinking before they legally could.
Basically, this is the shit!

Yeah man i see what you’re saying…good point, its uncharted territory when you’re delving into race issues, i just don’t think that it was well written, and it conveyed disdain more than anything else, in my opinion
Black Spade at his finest. This mixtape could not be better.
