The questions you’re asking are general questions on how hip hop is currently made and not necessarily specific to the str8 killa project. Freddie oversaw everything on this project, so no matter who records or mixes anything Freddie has done, it still goes through him…

None taken. I appreciate your insight. Also, I want to make the side comment that you have done a great job as a producer, especially for Freddie Gibbs. But there are a couple of questions that still stand out. For example, you produced, recorded, and mixed “National Anthem (Fuck the World)” but other songs have different people producing and recording. In those cases, do the producers or recorders (or mixers for that matter) have any say about how the beat is made? In other words, what are the descriptions of each position (writer, producer, recorder, and mixer) and how is each position intertwined?

My other question is what the difference is between those who made the beat,’ (as you earlier said) and producers. For instance, “Live By The Game” has more writers than rappers and producers combined. This track seems inconsistent with the writer:producer ratio you implied above.

Once again, I want to emphasize that I enjoy the music you make. This post is not an attack on you or anyone else involved with the EP. I’m just looking for clarification.

No disrespect to you, but have you ever read the liner notes of an album? the ‘writers’ on each track represent both the people who made the beat as well as the person who wrote the lyrics. For example, in regards to “rep 2 Tha Fullest”, as you mentioned above, the track was produced by DJ Burn One & B Flat Trax. Therefore, there are four names credited as having ‘Written’ the track. Freddie, Jay Rock, Burn One, & B Flat Trax. Look at any album inlay, and you will see the producer credited as a ‘writer’ as well as the rapper. And as far as the person who records and the person who mixes being different, this is QUITE common in music. Hope this clears things up for you.
