This video comes off as more than just a video. It’s more like a condensed but powerful short film, courtesy of Rik Cordero’s wizardry.
“With a full cast of characters set in a fictional post-apocalyptic Europe just after WWII, Rik takes us through a bloody, violent and hopeless march toward the unknown. Ultimately it is the one character, a prisoner who’s inner fire truly burns brightly, who survives, and receives what is supposed to represent the key to survival. I must admit that I didn’t pick up on all the symbolism the first time around, but after a few watches I can definitely appreciate this ambitious piece of art.
“Here’s what Rik had to say about the video: ”The Fire’ is one of my favorite tracks off HIGO and really feels like something you’d hear in the theater. The line ‘you don’t say good luck, you say don’t give up’ inspired me to create a period piece narrative that stays true to the lyrics while adding another layer to the interpretation.’” [OKP]

Dope! Dope! Dope! Powerful song, powerful visuals, thanks for sharing this.
So glad they chose to have this as their next single. Even the song before it with John Legend is dope. But great song nonetheless, even if it doesn’t sound like a traditional Roots song.
2:36 Is that the dude from It’s The Real?!?!?!
Incredible video
Ummm… I was in the 8th grade by the time I was 8…
I have written things that people have spent years attempting to interpret…
And yet… even I do not grasp the message the video is trying to convey.
(And I am not ashamed to admit it)
great video- im with Real Anonymous on this one but ill watch it a few more time to get some insight.
doooooooooooooooooooooooooooope video.
same with Anonymous….Im tryin to figure out the message myself.
powerful visuals. Rik = best music video director out there doin’ it
Looks like a load of old codswollop to me!
Dope Video I’ll have to watch a few more times
To “The Real Anonymous” I can write so crap and have people trying to interpret it, how does that make me more capable of finding a message in a video?
yeah i dont get it. i guess thats the point. kinda like pulp fiction where they dont really show you whats in the case. i like the song before this one on the album a lot better but so long as it got black thought on it, its gonna be a good song.
