“I’m Not A Star” – Review Of Rick Ross’ Teflon Don

07.29.10 Written by MZ

Thanks to a bit of good fortune and the stubbornness of a bull, Rick Ross has been able to navigate towards the upper echelon of today’s batch of rappers. The Miami emcee appears ready to sit at the head table, progressing from an ambitious hustler to a Teflon Don in a matter of four albums. The only question that remains is whether Ross’ music mirrors the lofty heights to which he claims. Read the rest of this entry »

Kanye West, The Social Butterfly

07.29.10 Written by Gotty™

There was a time when Kanye was highly active online. Then he hit a rough patch, got frustrated, lashed out and quit because he was too “busy” and “creative” to update the mortals on his thoughts and actions. Now, he’s returned to the scene to promote his new album, which apparently isn’t titled Good Ass Job anymore, and he’s been making an unlikely round of press by stopping first @ Facebook headquarters and then hitting Twitter’s HQ just to perform new material for the respective staffs. The idea of Fab releasing TINC2 to retail outlets sounded like a good idea but I’m having second thoughts after seeing this cover art. I try not to judge books or music by their covers so I’ll wait it out. Still, I have to know right now what’s really good with Read the rest of this entry »

Noreaga – “Nutcracker”

07.29.10 Written by TC

You can check N.O.R.E.’s track record as a solo artist and observe how he’s a master at storming out the gate with an infectious hit. We wouldn’t even be having this conversation if it wasn’t for “Superthug” which put his name (and The Neptunes for that matter) on the commercial soundscape. As a direct result, the unofficial trio went on to make more magic in the form of “Oh No,” “Grimey” and “Nothin‘” as well. Read the rest of this entry »

With the current anticipation and excitement surrounding this here release, nothing more needs to be said. But we’re going to say it anyway. “Hustle Blood” – Review Of Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty

07.28.10 Written by TSSCrew

Even though Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty marks the first time Big Boi has released an album under his own moniker, the supposed debutant comes into this project with nothing left to prove. He’s already been crowned Hip-Hop royalty as one half of the greatest duo in the movement’s history. The ease that comes with assumed greatness shows. Freed from any burden of proof, Daddy Fat Sacks delivers a collection of well-crafted, rump-shaking Hip-Hop jams that honor his legacy as a Southern original. Read the rest of this entry »
