The 10 Things You Missed In Game Two

06.07.10 Written by Gotty™

A list of probable things you may have not noticed from Game 2. Strike off the one entry talking about Ray Ray raining three pointers in the first half, tying a Finals record. Everyone clearly saw that (right Kobe?). We’re talking about a few of the under the radar items, like “Boston Sucks” being incorporated into “The National Anthem” and Lakers fans reluctant to wear white. Read the rest of this entry »

TSS x Yours Truly Present 3:16 With Pill And Freddie Gibbs

06.07.10 Written by J. Tinsley

Constructing a verse is easy. Constructing one with meaning, passion, and longevity, however, is the trick. Every fan, critic, and casual listener of Hip-Hop has at least one or two 16s they can turn to reflect on in good times and receive guidance through in bad times. At its very core, it’s powerful. Relating to another person’s words and emotions as if they were your own was the reason music was created and the sole testament why it remains the language of the world. Killer Mike Celebrates His Birthday With Adult Swim

06.07.10 Written by Gotty™

Mike Bigga spends his birthday with Adult Swim, touring them around his typical day in the A. Also starring Ms. Ann, Pill and Grandma, the camera allows us to watch as Killer gets cussed out, visits the studio to lay a few verses, does a few drops for The Boondocks…and eats. What? The man’s name is Bigga and he’s proud of it so you know there would be a few food stops along the way. Above all, the video is authentic. A portrait of the artist as a common man. Theophilus London – “I Want You” Video

06.07.10 Written by Gotty™

Accept the new…”

Even though Theophilus’ “I Want You” video co-stars Glenn Aya Lovrich and is directed by Va$htie, the star of this musical scene is actually the song. Already brimming with seductiveness, the tune is only enhanced by the aforementioned elements, amplifying the sensual nature of it all. Still it’s not overtly sexual, maintaining the foreplay effect just like Marvin originally intended. Read the rest of this entry »

“Love Junkie” – Review Of Donwill’s Don Cusack In High Fidelity

06.06.10 Written by TSSCrew

If picking potential influences from 1995 on today’s Hip-Hop, most fans would probably cite The Infamous as opposed to say a book by a pasty Brit about his failing small business and love life. Leave it to Donwill to think outside the box then, turning Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity (or, more appropriately the 2000 film adaptation) into a template for Don Cusack in High Fidelity. Lil Boosie & B.G. – 225 504 Mixtape

06.06.10 Written by Gotty™

Not sure how I feel seeing a new Boosie tape coupled with recent news comin’ out of BR. A hit? Over a rap beef? Apparently, savage life isn’t merely an expression used in the Trill team’s music.

A 17-year-old Baton Rouge named LA teenager Michael Louding has been charged with murdering regional rapper Chris “Nussie” Jackson and 5 other men in a string of killings dating back to February 2009. Last year, Dope Family Family rapper Chris “Nussie” Jackson died following a gunshot wound to the head on February 9. He was 33 years old.

Trill Entertainment rapper Lil Boosie was named as a primary suspect, with FBI agent Anthony Jung stating his bureau received information that Boosie initiated the slaying by placing a $30,000 hit on Jackson. Before his death, the two had been feuding on wax with Boosie recording the diss song “What Goes Up Must Come Down.’ [AHH]

Smoke DZA – “Sour Hour”

06.06.10 Written by Gotty™

Smoke DZA and Ski make for a deadly combination, every track sounding and feel like it was inspired by an ounce of nature’s finest paired with interrupted studio time. The track was originally intended for DZA’s forthcoming T.H.C (The Hustler’s Catalog) album but since it leaked, they decided to let loose a mastered version. Inhale, exhale & enjoy. Video: Ed Lover “C’mon Son” Part 14

06.06.10 Written by MZ

Ed Lover’s back with Part 14 in his C’mon Son series, brought to you in part by King Uncaged & Nike Dri-Fit Short-Sleeve Mock Turtlenecks. It’s been about six months since part seven surfaced and your guess is good as mine as to where the other seven episodes are. In reality, I don’t even care because much like Skillz’s Hip-Hop Confessions, these pop-up so infrequently that each one is almost like watching for the first time. That works just fine for me.

LeBron pulls double duty with his pending free agency & Delonte/Gloria triangle, Kobe’s infamous photoshoot, Elin makes her introduction to the show & a slew of other people get their just deserts over the nine minute clip. Yep, nine minutes. And with Ed Lover being in rare form throughout, this is well worth your time spent watching.

Meet Mr. Finley: Episodes Two and Three

06.06.10 Written by Gotty™

Las Vegas is commonly associated with tourism & casinos, fortunes lost & won, sun-cracked deserts & legal prostitution. If anything, grisly images of Tupac’s death are the first association that comes to mind when one hears “Las Vegas’ rap scene.” That was over a decade ago and those images need recasting. As one of the first voices to rep the town, Mr. Finley’s task is to not only bring attention to himself but his hometown. Read the rest of this entry »

Cee-Lo Green – Stray Bullets

06.06.10 Written by David D.

It’s been a newsworthy week with leaked music from Hip-Hop’s heavy hitters. Lost in the shuffle was Cee-Lo’s amazing single, “Georgia.” Out of everything that came out last week, that song has gotten the most burn in David D.’s iPod (named Huey P. for those interested). The song had a lot of people pining for new Lo music and whattaya know, we have it in the form of a mixtape full of all original tracks. Read the rest of this entry »

Family Affair – “Sunshine”

06.06.10 Written by Gotty™

The Force is a multifaceted set of emcees and Family Affair happens to be another branch from the StL collective’s musical tree. The duo brings a different perspective with their music and sound. The signature influence is Midwest funk, crafted with heavy synths & harmonizing that make it the musical equivalent of a Sunday afternoon picnic. Read the rest of this entry »
