I have to give my better half full credit. She was the one who actually had this on shuffle the other day and I snuck to hit repeat. Read the rest of this entry »

I had to read this four times before I could decide how I felt (or rather how I wanted to approach it). The sh#tty part is she got slugged and the article frames it as if she did the apologizing, when the expressed regret should have been mutual. Read the rest of this entry »
Planning on being in Atlanta around July 10th and looking for a celebration to attend? Join us @ the Spring4th Center to help toast Big K.R.I.T.’s signing and watch as he takes the stage. Read the rest of this entry »
Chocolate or vanilla. Beatles or Stones. Pac or Biggie. Of all the contentious match-ups, perhaps the greatest in my circle is D’Angelo or Bilal. Not “who is better?” but rather “who would you put on your album?” Read the rest of this entry »
Digital Underground. The name means so many different things to different people. “The Humpty Dance” resonates with just about any ol’ rap fan but whisper Sex Packets in a crowded room and it’ll separate the Top 40 downloaders from the ones who were caught up in Read the rest of this entry »
All that chicken talk & dope money rap. Gucci, I triple-dog-dare you to make sure your next mixtape has better artwork. Methinks you allowed the little niece to crack open MS Paint and do this one as a Father’s Day surprise or something of that nature. Read the rest of this entry »
California is diverse a state as America is as a country. From the materialistic southerners to the bay area bullies to the northerners who treat marijuana like a cash crop more than an illegal narcotic, the West is dense with personality. Read the rest of this entry »
As any mother can testify, having a father or father figure around is irreplaceable. Certain life lessons can only be taught by a man, which is why Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty is so unique. Used as a form of therapy, Big began recording the album shortly after his father’s passing. Read the rest of this entry »
Bobby Ray’s inspirational hit with Hayley gets the strobe light treatment. I see a Jim Jonsin’ cameo in here as well. No Billboard reports needed to determine this chune’s greatness; it passed the in-house charts kept @ the Gotty™ house. Read the rest of this entry »

– We’re almost sure Pac would have had the blog world and Twitter on lock had he been here to celebrate his 39th birthday.
– If Drake does, in fact, go gold, we can all thank Crooks & Castles.
– We made The Source! David D. represented.
– We gave our seal of approval to Big K.R.I.T. And everyone pretty much agreed. Read the rest of this entry »

Is the fact a brand spankin’ new album is getting remixed an indicator of it being a cult classic? Will Thank Me Later reach the ridiculous redux proportions of The Black Album and God’s Son? If so, Cookin Soul and Don Cannon have gotten the ball rolling with Thank Us Later. Alongside French maestro Spike Miller and electronic Spanish producer VibaSound, this worldly union attempts to revolutionize the art of remixing without having the main acapellas to Drake’s work. “Stop with those depressin’ *ss songs, it’s the summertime get some p#ssy and go home.”
Budden, you set yourself up for this. All the video blogging and Twittering. Built Tahiry up, only for her to downgrade you once you all separated. Got a new (used) chick who’s liable to do the same. Ultimately, you left yourself exposed and that’s not exactly safe for someone who I suspect is not wrapped too tight to begin.
Not to say that Lil B murked anything here or should even be taken seriously. I mean he’s in the f#ckin’ Pack for crying out loud. In fact, I’m still convinced that Lil B or anybody who subscribes to his music probably suffered a childhood tragedy like being socked by a kangaroo while on a school zoo trip. What I see is Mouse – one of my favorite lyrical bullies – has fallen so far off the mark that another man who calls himself a “pretty b*tch” feels totally safe in calling him out on wax. Or the internuts rather.
Whatever though, Joe. I lost faith in you several weak offerings ago when you proved that making a listenable album wasn’t in your arsenal of magic tricks. Letting off even a scathing mp3 won’t distract from the fact that you are now a Papoose award winner for not being able to rise above mixtapes. Don’t even bother responding to the track (and Basehead has since apologized anyways). I’d hate to see two emo rappers sissy-fighting. And when I think about it, the two of you have more in common than I realized when I started writing this, both having been snuffed on camera. Get PM Dawn to join in and softly sing, then the three of you might gain relevancy.
