“I knew this girl who looked just like you…”
The Hon. Bro. O’Shea’s audio sex romp was the only song I could hear in my head for almost three hours yesterday morning. Funny thing is I remember when we used to try to memorize Flav’s verse as well.
Ice Cube Feat. Flavor Flav – “I’m Only Out For One Thing”
Aside: Wax Poetics Issue 41 is on newsstands and Ice Cube & Ice-T occupy the cover. Got mine, get yours.

AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted is a certified muthafuckin’ classic. EVERY SONG. EVERY SKIT.
5 Cigs all day.
and by the end of the night, i’ll be behind her/waxin that ass like Rain Dance…
AMW – raw like sushi. Bomb Squad x Cube just kickin’ the script w/a wider scope than what he used w/nwa.
DC – conceptual masterpiece
Timeless!
I prefered Death Certificate. Don’t know why. Can’t go wrong with either one.
lol @ Rain Dance. Old school like a mug
“…jackin motherfuckers for they nissan trucks”
“Yeah, I’ll call you / a bitch or a ho, after I ball you”
Cube’s first 3 LPs are solid gold classics, and Death Certificate is one of the best albums of all time in my book.
AMW always brings back good memories.
love jherri curled Cube!
Now the taste of alcohol is filling up my bladder
What’s the date and time it don’t matter
Had a pocket full of phone numbers I was trying to sort
To make a long story short
Ran into this girl named Carla
Knew her from the back seat of my homie’s Impala
She said what’s up yeah what’s the deal
Check the hairdo of course it ain’t real
Then I looked down she was fat in the front
I asked how long, well about seven months
Oh how time flies when you’re having fun
She said yeah but the damage is done
Where you been, on a little vacation
Oh by the way congratulations
Who’s the lucky man? I don’t have a clue
Then she said the lucky man is you
I dropped my brew…..
Death Certificate is killer too. Both 5 Cigs. Thematically, he stepped it up on DC. Polished in-house production was a departure from the Bomb Squad cacophony on the debut. Unrefined on the debut, but unapologetic & uncompromising just the same. AMW holds more sentimental value for me though lol
Cube is top 5, dead or alive. I refuse to discuss this.
He ain’t in my top 5 but I ain’t mad @ you Dean.
“Once upon a time in the projects”
Cube is one of my All-time Favorites
Here’s my Skillz Hip Hop Confession Moment:
I haven’t heard an Ice Cube album before. Lets put down the pitchforks and halos and spare me just this once.
Ever wonder why young cats bash older albums/artists? B/c older cats bash them when they mention it, creating a little bit of animosity.

^^^^
I can’t even fuck with this shit right here. I’m going to sleep before I say some rash shit…
lol @ Athrin
I would give you a pass because you’re in your teens BUT you have a GZA avatar so…NO SOUP FO YOU!! *Statches bag*
AMW was a sentimenal classic for me
DC is a classic and I will fight you if you think otherwise.
I even had the Kill at Will EP before I knew how valuable it would become.

Say What?! I seriously can’t fathom this comment if your over the age of 24.
I mean anything after Predator you can get a pass on but wow
lethal injection was dope as fuck too…
Had AMW on cassette. Fuckin’ loved it, specially the whole ‘Fuck-You-ness’ of it after the NWA split… even through the choice of using PE’s production team.
…but then I got Death Certificate on vinyl. What an amazing record! This one is the closest I ever got to literally wearing out a groove.
So great how it used the vinyl format of 2 sides to devastating effect: The Death Side… & The Life Side…(‘a vision of where we need to go’). You can’t play one without the other.
No matter what people think about what he’s doing now he was running things at this time.
People always compare great concept records to Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ this could easily have been called ‘What THE FUCK’S Going On’!

Anyway I’m digging this out for a re-listen, cheers for the reminder… essential listening.
@ Deen & Belve10
Well, I would use the teen pass since I’m only 19, but I have went and listened to a lot of older, classic albums. I’m fully ready to submit my late pass and a 10 page report lol.
YO! I’m listening to AMW right now, and….
…on that skit, “The Drive By”…
Cube had the audacity to use the music for “Bust A Move” by Young MC
LMAO, shit gets me every time
@Athrin, Don’t worry about it homie. In about 10 years somebodies gonna tell you they never heard a Jezzy or Kanye album. Soon you’ll understand.
I myself am with Athrin, where I have never heard an Ice Cube album. Loved Wicked, The World Is Mine and Check Yo Self but still haven’t started from track one and on to any Cube album. And I’m 20.

lol true. I don’t think anyone here really thinks any less of Athrin. I mean, really that’s what makes those Hip Hop Confessions so funny because we all got em. Like when the dude said he never heard a Pac album or when Young Chris said he never heard a UGK album. I actually love dialogue like that. I applaud Athrin’s courage to come to a ICE CUBE POST and admit he’s never heard a album. We should have a TSS Confessions post.
I definitely don’t think less of anyone (much less a commenter around here) for not listening to shit like Cube’s early stuff. I just don’t understand why you’d want to deprive yourself. I’m slightly young for Cube’s earliest shit, but I caught up quick.
And if I run into kid in a few years that hasn’t heard a Jeezy or Kanye album, I’ll wonder how he escaped that shit and suggest that he listen to some Ice Cube or Nas instead. If we’re being completely honest, those guys are talented and among the best of the current bunch, but they aren’t touching a certain class of legends.
*Ahem*

ROTFL
Oh and Athrin, get to it already. You don’t know what you’re missing. Early Cube is like some unholy cross between PE, a socially redeeming NWA and Mobb Deep.
Cube used to be the scariest black man in America. He took the mantle once Mike got himself knocked the fuck out in Tokyo…
Good Shit TC. Time to sit in my room and just zone out to these albums. If I come out a little bit angrier at the world, it will all be for the better.
