There’s gonna be that one guy who says “Wiz get with Creative Control to do your videos. These aren’t cutting it.” Agree and disagree. Yes, quality and creativity are a must. But in 2010, most artists have much more desire than dinero.
However, as Decatur Dan said, “5D’s are like Escalades.” I’d suggest grabbing somebody with one (no Flips please) and a tad bit of skill (suggesting a film school student here, not one of your random homeboys). Let them film, you rap and push that sh#t out to the people. I think I’ve said it before but I’ll reiterate that the next logical step from mixtapes is videos. YouTube is the new MTV. And it’s cost effective. Newer artists, use these means & outlets to put yourselves in front of the people. It’s what draws the curious fans into the clubs and venues to see you perform when you hit the chitlin circuit. They want to copy what you wear, walk and how you talk lol. The heads, they just want to see if you can really rock a stage.

you cant hate on him for not putting out the same caliber videos as other artists. dont get me wrong CC and spitta have some fly ass videos as well as other well known stoner rap artists. hes gettin paid and we watching his videos and leaving comments. aka he is making money no matter how much we criticize his videos/ lack of being creative. but i think its just as creative to do his own thing and not succumb to the fans pleas for him to do something that “everyone else is doing”

Obviously im not artistically inclined, but i dont see whats wrong with his videos. All these “creative” videos ive been seeing sometimes take away from the music. its like the artist is making up for something. i like videos that allow you to focus on the song, simple.

^ Im going to have to say the same to you. its mediocrity in your opinion. Its a more simplistic style yes. Some of these videos with “creative vision” are just crap. In actuality the song makes the video. you could put together a video of just a montage of pictures, as long as the song is nice ill like it more than any video put out, no matter how “creative”, for a song that is garbage.
If by simplistic you mean lacking any foresight or creativity, I completely agree.
And I have yet to see a wack video from Creative Control and the actual music they’ve provided the video for has been far from “crap”.
If the video is wack, it’s wack, regardless of what the music sounds like.

Creative vision doesn’t always work. Just look at nearly Drake’s entire videography.
The lyrics > The beat > The weather i listen to it to > The mood im in while listening > mcdonalds double cheeseburger > burger king double cheeseburger > the music video > the creator of the music video > family guy > kids television shows today. Its sad when i have to search for shit i watched as a kid. The only things acceptable today on television are arthur, old sesame street, dragon tales. Thats all i can find.

& recently Young Riot dropped 3 and shot 5 vids before dropping the A Wave Called Yes mixtape. its already happening shaman
i wouldnt say this video is mediocrity. what if all artists starting filming this way and this “new trend” stuck around and became the new big thing? i dont see how it could but then the majority of the people hating would stop hating and follow it. either way the song is dope and the artist is more dope. the videos might not show them flipping bricks or driving 12 different color lambos, but instead shows wiz and his boys doing them.
