TSS: Hi-Tek, I see you’re following the path of Dr. Dre and Timbaland by trying to become the next super-producer, Jr. bodybuilder world champion.

Hi-Tek: Ha! I just like to take care of myself man…

TSS: So it feels like Reflection Eternal is here to stay now. It won’t be so difficult to do the solo thing and still come back together…right?

Hi-Tek: I think so. Yeah.

Talib Kweli: Yeah, but I think timing is everything in music and right now, is just the perfect time more than anything.

TSS: So what’s the chances of getting a Black Star album solely produced by Hi-Tek. Black Star Eternal?

Talib Kweli: Hmmm…that’s not impossible at all, seeing that Hi-Tek produced the majority of the first record.

Hi-Tek: Oh man…(Laughs) That’s kind of reaching far!

Everybody: (Laughs!!!)

Hi-Tek: It ain’t reaching that far–but it’s far enough, you know what I’m saying! But actually, it’s just like us doing this Reflection Eternal album. We really have to be able to sit down and iron out the details. Black Star was Mos Def’s idea. He set a lot of the groundwork but once we got into it, I felt like me and Kweli are the ones who really wrapped it up. He was doing movies, he was busy and was like “I already got the blueprint, y’all gotta do y’alls part.” But we would have to come back together and do it the right way. We would look at where everybody was at musically and go from there. We’re not going to do it just because the people want it.

We’ve got to do it the right way.
