When The Student Becomes The Teacher

05.25.10 Written by TC

We know our education system has a tough time connecting with the youth these days. It’s getting more difficult by the generation. Still, as teacher, you have to know your limits. And that means just because you may have a decade and some days on your kids, doesn’t mean you can whoop their ass. Read the rest of this entry »

Pill Feat. Zay Cash – “Get It How U Live”

05.25.10 Written by J. Tinsley

The “elder statesmen” of Atlanta are real active right about now. Jeezy is preparing to motivate thugs (and non-thugs) nationwide for the third time in five years. Big Boi’s putting the final touches on the Sir Lucious Left Foot chronicles. Meanwhile, Ludacris continues to make records that attach themselves to the top of the charts. Free at last, Gucci Mane and T.I. are well on the road to resuming their respective successful careers. Read the rest of this entry »

Hollyweerd Feat. Rapper Big Pooh – “Love Me”

05.25.10 Written by MZ

I know, I know. We need another love song like the Orlando Magic need heart we need another Drake leak, but I don’t think Hollyweerd could color between the lines if they wanted to. With Rapper Big Pooh batting lead-off, each artist takes a turn going off on their own tangent with love being the broad tie that binds them all together. What makes it work is the production (the word beat doesn’t do it justice), Read the rest of this entry »

The Face Of Eminem’s Road To Recovery

05.25.10 Written by TC

There are no pills, nor zany references to the celebutante of the day. The haze of any drug-induced streams of consciousness have become a mere afterthought as well. Glorifying the splendor of substance abuse and all of its thrills have also been scrapped from the itinerary. For Eminem is an addict and since he accomplished the first step to getting clean by penning the details in his last album, Read the rest of this entry »

Donnis – “More Fire”

05.25.10 Written by TC

Reading the title, my favorite Lil Wayne joint from Tha Carter II immediately comes to mind. But once those 808s begin to creep in, Donnis hits the track with a slinky flow that lets you know “The Life” of the party brings his own Fahrenheit to the club without being checked at the door. Suge Knight Did Not Rob Yukmouth. I Repeat, Suge Did Not Rob Yukmouth

05.25.10 Written by Gotty™

Maybe Suge isn’t so bad after all and the cops just have it in for him? All the allegations and accusations slanderous attempts by poh-leece © West Baltimore and media to sully his good name. That’s the story Yukmouth is selling in his recent interview with HipHopWired.

Hip-Hop Wired: Let’s touch on some of the drama that has surrounded you for a while, first off what happened between you and Suge Knight with the chain snatching situation?

Yukmouth: I can’t really go into details about it, because the situation is real delicate. All people need to know is that Suge didn’t have anything to do with it and that is really all I am going to say on it because street sh*t stays in the street and wax stays on wax.

Hip-Hop Wired: I read that initially that was your response, but later a report surfaced that you named Suge as one of the assailants in the robbery…

Yukmouth: Man, that was some bullsh*t that the police let out because I wasn’t cooperating with them. The thing is, I never said that Suge did it. After the stuff happened I told them that the dudes ran up on me while I was talking to Suge. The cops have it out for Suge, so they wanted me to say he had something to do with it, but I kept telling them no. They got mad, because detectives are d*cks. They are some crooked muthaf*ckas and they released a statement to TMZ stating that I told them Suge was the one who robbed me; but I never did.

Believe me, if I said a muthaf*ckas name, everyone would be locked up and you would see my name on court papers and also on the stand. I am the type of n*gga where if I said it, I have no problem with letting people know that is what I said. Police just put that out there to make themselves look good.

Fat Joe Feat. Trey Songz – “If It Ain’t About The Money”

05.25.10 Written by TC

I thought Joey was turning over a new leaf? Darkside, eh? This is more like Twilight with Team Trey flaming up the scene, giving it the only gateway towards radio play. Actually, it’s not that bad; catchy, clever basketball references, etc. I just wanted to send a shot @ the continous reliance of R&B for these Hip-Hop singles. When is rapping going to be enough for an intentional “hit?” Read the rest of this entry »

Tegan & Sara – “Alligator” (88-Keys See Y’Later Remix)

05.25.10 Written by Gotty™

While Hip-Hop is still on a brief hiatus for me, it’s given me time to sort through several folders worth of mp3s of music from the past couple of weeks (okay, months), including those from other genres. This 88-Keys creation for Tegan & Sara’s wildly popular “Alligator” happens to be one of my favorites. Just don’t ask me how I know about the track’s popularity.

“Here’s a remix I submitted to Tegan & Sara for their 2nd single “Alligator” from their Sainthood album. I played this for a few people & they all seemed to have dug it; many thought I should have added a 2nd verse to this. Read the rest of this entry »

Nato Caliph – “Anomaly”

05.25.10 Written by Gotty™

This is a posse cut in every sense of the word, each of these guys with a Cardinals New Era worn proudly. Every notable rap gang in the Lou makes an appearance here including The Force, Family Affair and the St. Lunatics. The surprising thing is everyone’s verse is strong, each one combating for the listener’s vote for which emcee killed it. In the end, it’s a victory for all as the home team wins big on “Anomaly.” Read the rest of this entry »
