As President of the TSS Cory Gunz Fan Club (Population: one), I have to say that this is a good day. It’s been confirmed that Cory is now a member of Young Money. Of course, this doesn’t automatically spell success, but I’m more inclined to hope believe that he’s going to be more Drake and Nicki Minaj than Jae Millz. He is, after all, the same guy that obliterated the “A Millie” beat. His rapid-fire flow is perfect for the Southern demographic that YM already has in a vice grip. Sure, we’ve seen racial inequalities in our lifetimes. There’s incarceration statistics, unequal education, Katrina and police brutality to show that, despite the hopes that we live in a post-racial America, we still have a long way to go.

However, I’ve never seen such blatant, institutionalized large-scale racism like we’ve seen in Arizona over the past month. First, there was SB 1070, which you might have heard of. Now, Arizona Governor, Jan Brewer, just took another step towards her goal of being the next Bull Connor by signing a bill that would ban the Tuscon school district from teaching Ethnic Studies classes. After a few years of regrouping it seems like the Nappy Roots are back on the scene to make more feel good country rap tunes for the masses to enjoy. Their latest video “Ride” is set to a laid back, acoustic guitar-centric beat that finds group member’s Fish Scales & Skinny Deville take turns riffing about life’s ups, downs and in-betweens. It looks as if the group is on their way to finding themselves as independent artists opposed to the major label successes they once were. But I was completely distracted by the newsletter’s leading image. More specifically, Mick’s shirt that he was wearing in the photo.

Says what we denizens of the ‘net oftentimes find ourselves typing & speaking. It looks as if Max B’s lawyer has found a new client in Lawrence Taylor. That’s the only way I can understand LT’s plan to defeat rape allegations against him, which will be to claim that he was choking the chicken when the underage girl was in his hotel room.

“…Lawrence will not deny he was in the same room as the 16-year-old prostitute, but his lawyer will argue Lawrence did not have sexual intercourse — an element of third degree rape. As one source put it, Lawrence engaged in a “masturbatory act” and that was it.”
