Enh, I agree about the cycle but @ the same time, it take opportunities and options in order for a group to change their behavior. Rap, jump shots, whatever it takes. I think showing Fin and his people is honest, gives more depth to his backstory, etc. And for some of those in the clip, seeing their face floating around on the screen may inspire them to think “hey, this shit is real and there are chances for us. i need to get my shit together.” lol

I used to have a very ignorant outlook on this kind of thing but after reading a few books on this such as “the new jim crow” and paying close attention to our history I realise that a lot of this is a combination of PLANNED ignorance within our communities authored by conservative power structures that pull strings to keep this going and our own elective ignorance of those that WANT to copy this life style who are without guidance the ESPECIALLY the uncle toms that dont work to a point where they can CREATE opportunities for our youth so they dont have to go down the same route.
I think videos like this along with WELL THOUGHT ARTICULATE COMMENTARY from black spokes people that really care about black people at large should be circulated more so we can educate our youth on EVERY aspect of the issue.
our schools and churches teach our children about right and wrong and not to commit crime but they fail to acknowledge the systematic PLANNING and the profit and gains for those that want this continue and I dont mean the drug lords who wholesale I mean the people who export and import drugs and target the symptom (corner boys) rather than the big establishments who are the ROOT of the problem.

love it when a few words spark greater interest….I grew up in the gang culture and I have never told them that what they are doing is wrong….because in the now, they feel what they are doing is the greatest. People try so hard to criticize the gang shit, but it’s hard to criticize something you don’t understand. I don’t understand it, but i also understand that I don’t understand. Gang members aren’t necessarily bad people, just people born to a situation they don’t know how to get out of. It’s easy to stand in judgment when you weren’t born in it.
