Johnny Spanish’s music continues to creep its way onto the iPods of listeners looking for the next big thing. His latest project The Lip is going to make a serious play for slept-on status of 2010. The full-length LP offers 15 tracks that showcase the Louisville slugger’s consistency and versatility and “My Way” may be one of the shining moments, showcasing Spanish’s tongue-twisting lyrics and vocal command of both rhythm and melody.
Over an upbeat keyboard riff, the song eschews verse-chorus structure for a jazzier improvisational style. What holds it together is Spanish pouring his heart into the track, touching on the usual up and comer topics: the struggle, the imminent breakthrough.
It may not be a single you’ll hear on your radio any time ever, but heads will want to take notice.

i dig it, but AK Spitta & Kell called it. Johnny got talent, but he sounds a bit like Outasight. nothing wrong with that, outasight is talented also, but with the fact he can carry a tune & can flow, in an entertaining way, he justneeds to distinguish himself. i still dig this song alot.

late to this Johnny Spanish dude, took a listen, the music is nice. Saw the “Shining” video, image maybe needs a lil help but hey its 2010, maybe thats irrelevant anymore. Downloading the album now, lets see what the kid is bringing.
Just listened to My Way, it is pretty good, but whoever does your mixing and mastering need to get their game in check. The vocals sound a bit too loud for the beat, you need to bring it down a notch or two with the vocal mix down.
Also, you should tone it down with the foul language, because you’re probably cutting out yourself out the loop in terms of getting rotation on the car stereo, home stereo and radio too. Remember, the children are listening!
All in all it’s pretty good track, I’ll give you 7 out of 10 for a breezy summer vibe track.
