I didn’t really understand if it should be “Dres,” “Dres of Black Sheep,” or just “Black Sheep.” I asked a friend and he explained that even while Mr. Lawnge was no longer an active member of the group, Dres wanted to continue on with the name. Odd, considering a group usually has several members but I digress.
At the end of the day, it’s obviously about the music and Dres has been able to do quite well for himself the group. And when he couldn’t get the absent member onboard, he found support from his Native Tongues family for what has to be the first in a long time that this many members of the famed collective have been on one track. Yep, Q-Tip, Dave of De La Soul, and Mike Gee of the Jungle Brothers join Dres the Black Sheep for “Birds Of A Feather” off the upcoming From The Black Pool Of Genius longplayer.
