I’m still shocked by Guru’s passing, honestly like I said before I didn’t know he had cancer. He looked in such good shape during his interviews and photoshoots during recent times.
Maybe now Jeru, Group Home, Big Shug, Edo G, Bahamadia, Freddie Foxxx, Scarface. M.O.P. and DJ Premier can release a super group album as The Foundation.
Honestly, what true Hip Hop head can say that Guru wasn’t a part of the backbone that supported the culture during harsh times?
Moment of Truth single handedly re-galvanised a pretty fatigued Hip Hop scene back in 1998. Those of you who were around and purchased that album back then know what I am talking about.
Lemonade was a popular drink & it still is…
R.I.P. Guru
I still remember the day I copped Moment of Truth. I was 15 and in Japan on a school trip. Our school group went to Tokyo to look around and I broke away from the group to go to a record. They were bumping “Work” when I walked in, and Guru said, “you’re bitch don’t really got no ass, she just poked it out.” And I was like, “this is dope, I must get this!”
I managed to get placed with the only hip hop head (and DJ) at the Japanese school we did an exchange with. When I brought the album home he flipped out and kept yelling about how he loves “Dee Jay Pre-Me-Ya”. Shit cracked me up.
RIP Guru
Man in 8 th grade i did a peoject on jazz after hearing A Jazz Thing by Gang Starr, that track alone helped get into Jazz music – Gang Starr had timeless music Guru was definently dope on the mic an premier laid the illest production May Guru rest in peace – Solar suck a dick
After everything that was going on with Guru, im still more shocked by that LeBron convo that took off.
@Sir Paw you absolutely right but i think 98′ was just bound to be a dope year for hip-hop regardless (specially off the shameful 97 & later 96′ year) but i believe MOT was the first thing to set 98′ off right or it wes DJ Honda II
SAD ting man
