As we keep building & blogging, there’s always a drive to develop a different approach in the way we engage artists. In some situations a Session works well, whereas Fifteen Minutes with an emcee can cover quite a bit of ground as well. Still, we want to keep the experience unique & Fresh, leaving the standard Q&A to other outlets while we continue to push the envelope.
With that in mind, we’ve joined forces with the brilliant minds at Yours Truly (http://yourstru.ly/) to create the “3:16″ Video Series. Since it’s primarily their brainchild, I asked Will of Yours Truly to give a few words for his take on the series. He says any emcee worth your time should be able to make his verses your favorite, just as any emcee worth his salt should have his favorite verses committed to memory.
“Playwrights have scenes, poets have stanzas, Holy men have verses, and emcees have 16’s,” he says.
And so our first subject in this project is the rhyme trio collectively known as Pac Div. With a quality “mixtape” (Church League Champions was better than quite a few releases with bar codes) under their belt and an energetic, well-choreographed stage performance, the Californians continue to climb the their way to success. For this occasion, Mibbs, BeYoung & Like each take a moment to recite a rhyme that’s etched in their memory banks and then share the reason why the lines or the artist who spoke them had such an impact on each member of the group.
Respect due to the team @ Yours Truly. Stayed tuned for future updates in the “3:16″ Video Series.

another dope idea
Keep this going very dope
word. glad a few folks like it. we’ve got a few more coming.
“bitch you somewhere inbetween that demon and that white shit you accumulatin around your mouth when you get thirsty!”
omfg, this dope verse killed me.
great idea, TSS braintrust. and i’ve always dug Pac Div…but the shoutout to Pac’s “Pain” is some great shit. i love that song.
Yo Gotty,
Any reason Dangerous 5:18 is up on the site today?
isn’t*
should be falling thru momentarily.
dope concept, good work as always tss
Yeah, this is dope.
“Pain” is one of my all time favorite joints as well.
So the other weekend I saw Pac Div perform (first time in quite some time — as SXSW was far too hectic)…
way with their stage show.
Oddly enough, that same night Blu performed here in Santa Monica (same bill). Blu literally seemed like he didn’t care to be up on stage performing.
Contrasted with the energy and excitement that Pac Div brought to their set… it just made them that much more enjoyable. Definitely looking forward to their “debut” project.
@jrems
I was at that show too. It really depressed me to think that Blu, who I’ve always looked up to as one of the best performers on the L.A. circuit, and who hasn’t actually performed at a show out here in a while, would be stumbling all over himself, forgetting his lines, and basically just looking stoned…
Pac D rocked it, but honestly, by the time they got up, Blu’d sucked all the energy right out the room. He used to get the crowd amped. Sigh.
I’ve seen Blu perform 2x. he didn’t look happy in either situation :(
Pac Div won me over when i saw them perform live.
that was awesome. i watched the entire thing with a big grin on my face, then they really outdid themselves by encoring with suga free da pimp. on point, too.
impressed.
good looks Gotty. It came out dope. props to Will A as well! respect.
I did not know these guys names until now and I’m a pretty big fan of these dudes lol
awesome! Pac Div is the man!
this is a great concept! reminds me of a common show where he covered ‘ny state of mind’…i respect the next emcee, but respect him more when i know dude is a fan of the music as much as i am.
This weblog seems to recieve a great deal of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to talk about is the most important thing.
