Here we have Wheelchair Jimmy’s video for his first single off his upcoming debut album.
Am I the only one who’s already slightly tired of seeing this kid everywhere? I’m not hating on the music. In fact, I’ve grown oblivious to it. But there is a difference between hype and market over-saturation and Drake seems to be straddling that line pretty vigorously right around now.
Then again, so did his partner in rhyme last and that dude went on to sell a milli in a week. Whether or not Drizzy will do similar numbers is still up for debate.
Oh well. Here’s the video to that song with the hook that you either love or loathe. Enjoy.
Thank Me Later will be in stores come June.

“I’m not hating on the music. In fact, I’ve grown oblivious to it.”
——————————————————————-Took Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth #PAUSE The Vid Is Kinda Tuff Tho. Hope He Do Something With This Buzz.
It’ll get bashed but I think that it’s alright. A pretty good Vid.
With that said, you hit it dead on the Head when you said…

This was Perfectly written
I do not like this video. At all.
It feels like Jermaine Dupri directed this video. In 1996.
And Drake is one of those Chris boys. Can’t figure out which one, though.
So just pull the triggeeeeeeerrr…
This is only slightly less boring than Lupe’s 10 minute spoken word expedition. Call it hate if you want.
i dont think they got the full effect of whomever’s original idea with the video.
it has crazy potential to be one of those emotionally drawn-out, deeper meaning having types. and you can sense it, especially with the film reels against the walls. which was a great idea, im just not sure if this was a directors fall-off, or the artists.
but then again, seeing as though the majority of Drake’s listeners aren’t the brightest (from what i’ve seen), this shall fare somewhat well.

Over the past several years, market over-saturation = hype. Probably the last artist that I can think of that had the ‘hype’ first is Curtis. That’s partially why on his DEBUT single he can say lines like “this happened over night”.
Who is that holding the pistol, Ras Trent or Kamron from Young Black Teenagers?
I had to double take on the subtle booty poppin on the chick riding the wall. Stay Classy Toronto.
The reason why I think this video won’t work with most people is because Drake is trying to do these abstract type videos like Jay-Z/Kanye. The problem is Jay-Z & even Kanye have a whole catalog of standard videos before them and now these type of abstract videos work for where they are in this point of their careers with the mystic, elite-ism and separation that they’re trying to create from us “regular” folks to make them seem bigger than life.
With Drake, his career is so young people still wanna accurately see what their listening to. Is it so far fetched to say that a dope video would’ve been something as simple as shooting this shit in Canada with a crowd of Canadians surrounding him with a story line woven in between? People still wanna know who Drake is and what makes him HIM. Give us you dawg, that’s all we want right now.
I personally just think it’s too early for Drake to be doing these polished videos that make him seem distance and not touchable to his listeners like Jay-Z is doing. Just keep ya self tangible right now Drake and do these abstract “im in another realm” videos down the line when people are 100% satisfied that you proven ya self. For now just give them you in the videos without the cloud of BS. My 2 cents.

*DEAD*
I’ve never noticed before but Drake’s voice is naturally auto-tuned.
LMAO @ Flea
Technically, magnificent.
But as for whether it works for Drake, A-Game is on point.
and in other news… b.o.b./hayley williams? two thumbs up! although im biased cuz i love me some paramore and bobby ray is looking good right now as far as his album goes.
LOL at ras trent
there’s some pretty cool visual effects in this video, but then again it does seem like the director was trying to go somewhere with it but didn’t quite get there…I’ve always been more a fan of the normal rap videos over the abstract ones anyway…it’s not that I don’t understand them, but they just come off as having nothing to do with the song lol
Drake is overrated. his music is hot and stuff but its a dying hype to me… he only raps about takeover shit… smh… thats all that matters?? i need substance and real life situations… cuz they using the shit outta us
I think the song was a good video material and it’s just not as good as it could have been, he’s trying too hard here imo.
i was tired of this dude before he even got signed to Lil Wayne, fake ass rapper….what kinda rapper trips on his own feet on stage? a FAKE one.
and for real, this dude making tough faces makes me wanna puke…pussy ass..
when it comes to Aoril 12th, 2010……
B.o.B > Drake
Bobby Ray wins today.
I think he lacks presence. I began watching the video, then my eyes averted and I missed the last two minutes of it because he doesn’t hold my attention. He’s too busy with the profile shots and nothing comes off the screen, which is a shame. So far, IMO, his songs>>>>>his videos.
I hate filters/effects just to do filters/effects. What’s the point?
I do like Drake though (no homo)
what’s up with the koyaanisqatsi sequences in that room? this is one of the few instances where i would have preferred philip glass’ music…
First time I heard “over” I thought it was hot, when I watched the video I realized the only thing I like about it is the hook.
Oh yeah, the video sucked.
Should’ve just went the generic route and shot it in a club. It would’ve added another level of excitement to the song.
Even Birdman would’ve shot a video more fitting for this track! The way the music is produced, with the horns before the bass drop, and what the chorus suggests.
DAMN YOU Drake this COULD HAVE BEEN a dope visual!!!
Maybe the song just made me expect too much, but I hope his single/leaks won’t do his album the same.
This video to me was not what I expected at all, to be honest I think this jawn is garbage(visually) I was expecting waaaay more then this with this song being the lead single off a album. This looks like it should be the visuals for “fall for your type”… But how is a video for a mixtape track better then a video that u would think had a promotional budget backing the lead single?
women and children will buy the fuck out of this album
The kid is so musically gifted that I think he blew up simply based off that, which is great. It’s alot better than artists who blow simply cause of their image or style.
But this is one case where I wish Drake would’ve taken some swag classes or something lol. Dude is so awkward on stage, in videos, he just simply does not look like a rapper. And I’m the last person to be stereotypical.. I liked the fact that he didn’t look like ya regular rapper. But now, he just gets more and more awkward to watch.
I been following Drake since “Comeback Season” dropped, and I’m happy that he’s reached this level. Maybe he titled his album very aptly “Thank Me Later”. Cause right now, aint nobody giving him props for this shit.
Wowwwwwwwwwww!!!Recently, I came across a hot dating site.

There are many sassy ladies and handsome rich guys seeking fun, friendship, love ,marriage and even more!!!!! It’s especial for us black to see meet our interracial love! Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends
I don’t think he’s been over hyped, I think established artists these days have a hard time reclaiming some shine and grab the hottest thing out. It just so happened Drake was in the right place at the right time.
As for the video good and different. Just Drake, no Wayne, no Nicki, no Birdman. The song and video set out to put Drake as the center of attention and I think both succeed in doing so.
i love drake music im an upcomeing rapper and i look up to him alot hes one of my favorite rapper you can check out my myspace http://www.myspace.com/yaboitq

@HTENT and @A-Game I liked your comments. I think you both nailed it right on the head as far as Drake is concerned. Very insightful.
Here’s something that’s making its way around hip hop blogs….
