A woman better described as “Mother Earth” or “Aphrodite” sirens from your speakers and stands 20 Feet Tall over you. She sees over your 20-foot wall. She is neither good, nor evil, nor anything you can wrap your mind around, so you allow your ears to do the defining. You’re in this sound, this genre, this vehicle she manifested by a seemingly divine rite, and she rests you comfortably on her back bench in a Window Seat. You can’t sit next to her. You will never be able to sit next to her. Men who have been her passenger have disappeared, or been destroyed by love, or never became well again from a stone-like state of Agitation.
You don’t want to become one of the bewitched, but you already are. You are he who would sigh and die for the opportunity just to say “Turn Me Away.” Here’s the imagined life of many men who have proven her fertility, only to prove their paralleling ineptitude. They cannot contain a woman who, when she turns to walk away, incurs the sentiments “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long.” But she never turns to a pillar of salt over a Sodom and Gomorrah love. Umm Hmm. She got him. She got them. Bad. With.
She created an -izm. She held the weapon of your mother. She conducted a subterranean planet. She founded a new country in Part One. And now that she has answered all the calls and cries and questions you’ve had for her, you’re left with even more. Like, “What would be the end result and odds of You Loving Me for a second or a (Session)?” And her latest reply is “You would Fall In Love” but it would be (Your Funeral.) It would be some slow singing and flower bringing for this Mother Earth. This Aphrodite.
You’re afraid of her essence. Of her Incense. But you, and I, and we can only beg for more. She drives me Out Of My Mind, Just In Time. Right before I’m with all the others who have been caught by the siren of her song. Guess I’m a fool for you too, Badu.
New AmErykah Part Two is a logical progression in Ms. Badu’s book. It’s the next chapter. So if you’ve been reading and following all along, you won’t be disappointed.
Erykah Badu – “Fall In Love (Your Funeral)”
Erykah Badu – “Out Of My Mind, Just In Time”

“Fall In Love (Your Funeral)” = STAYS on repeat.
I LOVE and KILLS this song so much I got my daughter asking to replay it.
In 20 some years she’ll hear it played and like it differently then, for grown up reasons… Just like her daddy does now.
That’s one of the beauty’s of good music.
Every time I hear Fall In Love, I think it’s Unbreakable (A Keys).
Same sample, or am I buggin’?
For whatever it’s worth, it’s a smooth blend waiting to happen by some DJ….just give your boy a shout when you make it happen.
Just so my ears aren’t deceiving me, Fall In Love (Your Funeral) has the same sample as Alicia Key’s Unbreakable, right?
“Out Of My Mind, Just In Time” = CLASSIC
Good write up. This album has been on heavy rotation in my Scion purple toaster, and I don’t think it’s leaving the iPod radio connection anytime soon.

Yep. Also, Rhymefest’s “Sister” and 213′s “Another Summer” (which Drake rapped on on Comeback Season (“Going In For Life”)
“Intimate Friends” = the song. Everyone should have it in their archives.
yeah that rhymefest song was dope. We have any crate diggers in here that can tell me what that sample’s from?
Erykah Badu = The Yoko Ono of Hip Hop.

“it’s gonna be some, slow sangin’. And flower brangin’…I’m gonna make you change jobs, change gods.”
woohoo! lol. She won over these rappers.
that sample used in “UMM HMM” always makes me feel soul good
right off the bat
Man, G, that sample mix was a virgin with a mouth wired shut (no brainer).
I still run that.
She won over these rappers.
===========================
I’d love to hear some of her stuff from when she was rapping.
Speaking of Samples, I’m looking for the list of songs that sampled Norman Conners’s You are my Starship ([www.youtube.com]). I know Mob Deep sampled it and U-N-I, but there’s another person who did it, but I have no idea who.
OOooo , OOOOOhh, OOhh!

Shawn Jackson – ‘Maan Up’
I’m certain anytime LC writes anything, even types the letter “A” the entire TSS just stops and we all sit back and read.
LC’s dangerous with the pen (keyboard)- great post.
G 2 a ke (scarface old group) did that sample proud. I doubt most of yall know what I’m talking about.
“The Yoko Ono of Hip Hop.”
I think that comparison does Ms. Amerykah a pretty huge disservice. That’s like saying she’s the Medea to hip-hop’s Jason (of Argonaut fame).
The thing I’ve always appreciated most about Badu is that she’s a contender in her own right, which is so much more substantial than simply being a muse. She brings her own ‘A’ game to the table every single outing, which in turn, challenges both her peers and fans to evolve on their own. In her case, aspiration out-values inspiration.
so…I take it Badu’s new album is the bee’s knees?
*will take a listen*
Damn good tunes right here
thanks for the leak, gettin the album!!
here are the samples for New Amerykah Part Two:

Yo Teef
if those three songs you mentioned aren’t the best i dont what is. This whole cd is like my fav for the year so far…eff that
When we were doing the “Window Seat” video we got a chance to chill at her house almost everyday and talk about numerous things. She played the cd over and over and I said to myself..”the world has no idea what she’s coming with” but the most exciting part was when she did a whole dance routine for “out my mind, just in time”. it seemed like something out of alvin ailey but was more shocked when she said that she had just made the dance up. I was stunned, shocked and in awe all at the same time. She has been my favorite artist since day one and i must say that it was such a privilege to produce a music video if not her most talked about music video i think of her career which is far from over but i’m sayin..lol. Whew! All this typing is replaying the dance routine in my head..peace y’all
As always…RMF
