Show up. Shut Up. And rap. Sounds like some advice meant for Yung Berg, huh? Minus the “show up” and “rap” parts, of course. Thankfully this post has nothing to do with the Chi-Town punching bag, but rather with San Francisco veteran, Z-Man. For those unfamiliar with Z, he’s been a fixture on the Bay Area scene for well over a decade now with several releases, both solo and group, to his name. He even managed to crack Urb’s Top 100. But don’t take my co-sign, Phonte of Little Brother is a hardcore fan of Z’s product.

“Aside from being a longtime friend of mine, Z-Man is one of the funniest, most entertaining personalities you will ever hear in hip-hop. You may love him or you may hate him, but you damn sure won’t forget him.”

Nevermind the fact Big Z (no puppet) is well respected as a lyricist, the man also does his own cover art. Cutting down on cost and amplifying his hustle, yeah, the man is a virtual one stop shop. Show Up, Shut Up and Rap is his first solo effort since 2005′s Don’t Forget To Brag. The free, eight song EP promises to find Z-Man at a different place both musically and sonically than five years ago.

So go ahead and give this a listen. It can’t hurt and it’s free. And because Phonte said so.
