Our picks have been all over the place and wrong more often than not.  But like the weatherman predicting rain for 17th consecutive day without a cloud in the sky, we carry on.  The games have been entertaining throughout and we can always take solace in the fact that we concentrate most of our energy on music around here.  With a trip to the Final Four on the line, all teams involved will need to bring their A-games today, because as we’ve seen all tournament long, anything can happen.

(2) Kansas State Vs. (5) Butler

Some team will be making a whole bunch of fans happy, as neither school has sniffed the Final 4 in several decades. Butler’s slow down style was enough to shut down Syracuse, while K-State survived a barrage of 3′s from Xavier in a high scoring, double OT classic. Anticipate another close game of contrasting styles. Ultimately, defense wins championships, or in this case, Elite 8 games, as Butler will return to Indy winners.

(1) Kentucky Vs. (2) West Virginia

Kentucky will need to keep up the defensive tenacity they showed against Cornell, because West Virginia looked no worse for the wear without Truck Bryant on the floor.  Much like they did against the Huskies, the Mountaineers will need to limit the Wildcats transition game and continue to get contributions from everyone.  Kentucky, the prohibitive favorites at this point, just need to remain poised and overcome West Virginia’s physical style of play.
