Damn it feels good to see people up on it. Seems like the summer of 2004 was yesterday and Trey’s Young & Heartless mixtapes were all over the tri-state. Unlike NYC or L.A., Petersburg, Virginia, isn’t exactly known for its musical history. A R&B singer taking the Hip-Hop approach by jumping over industry cuts wasn’t the norm, but Trey sounded at home doing this.
Which is exactly why I’m pleased he’s still dropping these type of tracks even as his star power increases each day. Songz borrows Gucci’s ode to all things canary yellow and flips it into his own personal tale of hard work and blessings.

Cant knock Songz it’s been a long time coming. This is what happens when your audience grows with you. We’re able to witness the growth of a young artist who has finally come into his own. One thing for certain he’s definitely taken from R. Kellys book of writing style.
All-time, Kelz wins this no doubt. I doubt even Songz would deny that.
At this very moment, and for at least the past year and some change, Songz > Kelz. Look at the quality of material in recent memory, Songz has definitely grown and matured as an artist. If he sounds like Kelly, that’s fine. The ladies obviously have no problem with it lol.
