“Where I’m From” -winner- *Lupe* Jay’s lyrics and especially chorus are dope but I never felt like he really rhymed on beat to this track.
“So Ghetto” – winner- *Jay-Z* This song is so incredible, I feel like NO ONE should try to rhyme over this beat besides Jay.
“Pressure” -winner- *Jay-Z* This one is close because I think this song is so wack, picking out a winner is hard to do because I actually HAVE TO listen to it. Soundtrakk made the worst beat of his career and Lupe adds to that by putting out a TERRIBLE chorus. This song sounds like a “Rebirth” reject, which is saying something because Wayne’s second single “On Fire” is complete garbage. How did they get Jay to agree to be on this song?!
“Sittin’ Sidewayz” -winner- *Lupe* I don’t think either of these guys are rhymin’ at their best abilities over this track, but Lupe puts in more of an effort on this one so it goes to him.
“Dynasty Intro” -winner’ *Jay-Z* I thought Jay was a hands down winner here, but after a few more listens, I gotta admit that Lupe gave him a run for his money. But Jay’s line “Niggas, say it’s the dawn/Don but I’m superstitious/Shit is as dark as it’s been, nothin’ is goin as you predicted” is the deciding factor for me.
“Dear Summer” -winner- *Jay-Z* Does anyone else find the vocal sample in this song annoying as hell?
“Thank You” -winner- *Jay-Z* One of my favorite songs off the best album of the year.
“Dead Presidents” -winner- *Lupe Fiasco* I would have given it to Jay if this was Dead Presidents II, but Jay doesn’t sound 1/2 as good as he does on the album version and Lupe comes with it! “I black out like DOS/ how you gonna back out? There’s no back doors/ like Porsche/ of course, it’s the Boss/ Tony Danza stanza/ I am the Springstein of sixteens”. Effortless flow right there boy.
“Ignorant Shit” -winner- *Lupe Fiasco* Jay was great on this one, but Lupe is in his zone right here. One thing that’s always bothered me about this freestyle though; “Com Sense, the priest, Bump J the chief/ Kanye the champ, Twista man the beast/ Crucial’s still the kings/ Kato rest in peace” He’s not crowning Crucial fucking Conflict as the kings of Chicago is he?!?!
“You, Me, Him & Her” -winner- *Joe Budden* Joe’s comes out of nowhere and wins this one!! I’m sorry, he’s not even on this mixtape but his song “Pain In My Life” over this track just destroys everything that Jay & Lupe worked so hard for on this beat.
“Diamonds Are Forever” -winner- *tie* I can’t believe this. This is seriously, my favorite Jay-Z verse OF ALL TIME, so I didn’t even want to give Lupe a chance on this, but he made such a beautiful, important song that it can’t be dismissed here.

You know, you would think, with Jay being one of the most respected MC’s of all time, a competition against anyone would be a slaughter (unless that anyone was someone from Slaughterhouse), but Lupe really gave him a run for his money. Jay-Z wins 6 to 5 on this mixtape but I really thought it would be more like 10 to 1 or 9 to 2. I’ve always been a fan of Lupe and I know people who think he’s one of the MCs out there, but I never put him in the same caliber as Jay-Z. This mixtape just changed my opinion on that. Lupe is a force to be reckoned with. I’m going to be watchin’ this guy closer from now on.

I think I’ve been listening to too much BP3 because hearing jay spit “pop bottles on the white house lawn” really caught me off guard heh

Young(er), effortless sounding jay vs enemy of the state lupe was SLAUGHTER! Lupe’s newer stuff sounds so forced and boring, and I’m a huge lupe fan.

This joint was hot but its like comparing Kobe to Jordan and the parallels don’t end there but only serve to illustrate how some things can’t (or shouldn’t) be compared. Nonetheless, if I had to choose Jay killed it but Lupe’s the future. For the most part the originator (except @ Cornell in 1906) usually elevates to unforeseen levels and any subsequent follow-up is trying to imitate.

More importantly, though, the real winner is Trackstar because this joint is hot. This project, and others like it, epitomizes the beauty and infinite possibilities of Hip-Hop.
