At this rate, Lil’ Nicki will have very lil’ use for making a song of her own. The checks for hopping on her fellow artists lead singles and getting RuPauled up for the videos, should keep her bills paid and her ability to tour moderate-sized venues until she has enough songs to release a Featuring Nicki Minaj album. Perhaps the shoddiest video I’ve seen in a while. It’s foggy as if they shot it using a “Wonder Years” camera and baggin’ up psuedo coke while rhyming about Pyrex pot dreams are mid-90s as it gets. My guy Zo has an uncanny knack for taking unheralded artists and creating compilations for them that their music seem as if the whole world has been in a slumber regarding their talent. A few weeks ago, he hit me up asking if we would post it if he put together a compilation on G-Unit artist Governor. Knowing his meticulous process for selection of artists and mp3s, I didn’t think twice.

Point blank period, this thing slaps. It’s really no other way I can describe it. When possible, it’s always a stand up act to show love to people who’ve often reciprocated the gesture. Such is the case with Surf Club. Along with “Mr. Everything,” otherwise known as Don Cannon (producer, DJ and professional shit talker), Chili Chil is gearing up for the release of his debut project, Cold World, set to drop this spring.

The first leak, “Ride The Bike,” finds Chil rhyming over a trunk ready instrumental he actually produced himself. Honestly, it reminds me of that Young Buck “Get Buck” beat, so if you’ve ever listened to that outside of computer speakers, you already know how crazy that was. Pretty much the same thing on this track plus the addition of Chil’s unique voice which make for an interesting listen to say the least.

I’ve seen these pictures from the set of Nicki’s upcoming “Massive Attack” video shoot and the impure thoughts have outweighed any worthwhile words I could feign about actually “anticipating” one of her videos for the actual music. Really, I think I’ll skip the video because these stills are enough, seeing her, Amber and all those hams in one photograph. While some of the crew came back from Austin rejuvenated, full of vim and vigor and ready to write.  Others returned needing  a vacation to recuperate from vacation.  I fell sorely in the latter category and have been using SXSW as my crutch for everything from crummy NCAA picks to waking up late for work.  Nonetheless, we buckled down and knocked out a pretty good week if I don’t say so myself.
