When it comes right down to it, Fab is that dude. Then again, he isn’t. Don’t get me wrong, he can flow with the best of them and dude has some of the sickest one liners of the last decade. And hits, too. But for some reason, I’ve never walked away from a Loso LP feeling like he produced an undeniably hot album. I’d assume that’s the reason I’ve never been willing to hand him the keys to his city (i.e. “the crown”).

I say that to say this, the mixtape Fab, on the other hand, is a completely different story. I can’t really explain it, but you can tell in the energy. It’s one line after another and you’re left shaking your head what this guy could actually do if his chips fell in the right place. Likely my favorite tape from him was 2006′s Loso’s Way. Four years later and the track I probably still listen to the most is his narrative over Roger and Zapp’s autotune anthem about his encounter with a young lady named Ester.

To this day I have no clue if he was referring to Ester Baxter, although she was the go-to video vixen of the moment then. Regardless, it’s a dope track to revisit, especially if you haven’t heard it in awhile. As for There Is No Competition 2, I wish I could tell you. I stopped wondering.
