Well, well, well. Man finally meets machine.
And when we hear the twists and entendres of our hard-hitting robotic overlord, we shall bend to his will. At least, this was my pervasive thought when I heard Danny Brown say “I fire up the blunt and it tastes like gumbo/Hit the trees hard like George in the Jungle” on Elzhi’s The Preface, or “Brown cuttin’ up white like Bo Rics” on Hot Soup, or “Hot like Phoenix/Three words for you/Kiss my penis” on an early mixtape.
It’s something in his delivery. He’s got flavor for everyone — the ignorant, the thoughtful, the club-goer, the home-body, the creep, the freak, the savage, the saved, the nomadic men and women of Hip-Hop. He is as he says; a hybrid. And one who mixes the right recipe.
For many, Danny holds untapped potential ready to be recognized. For some, he carries the burden of being the future. For himself, he exalts in the task. His lyricism begs an ear and grants a smile. I give you my word you’ll get at least that out of this album, and probably much more than you bargained for. The man is a machine; capable of crushing all the men around him. Here’s hoping he capitalizes.

My personal favorite D. Brown quote:
“The kush got purple hair like a hoodrat” (from Danny! Swain’s “Theme Music to a Killing Spree”)
This album is crazy. I can’t believe you’re listening to it, LC, with your skepticism towards free albums and all…
LC was actually the one who turned me on to Danny’s music. Click his name and check her history w/the guy. Between him and elZhi, I blame LC lol
“smoke green like I shot a Ninja Turtle”
“Brown cuttin’ up white like Bo Rics” just got me good
dude’s punchline style reminds me of a young Chino XL—with more exhale… uh… er… Okay: Once again LC strikes gold——like a commercial on Fox.
*crickets*
Fine, I’ll stick to comments.
Had the Detroit State Of Mind joints on standby and when Part 4 dropped I finally unzipped em all & gave a listen.
I fux with the boy Brown.
“Street law enforcer, nigga drop dime get hit wit two quarters
And that’s a 50 Cal nigga, have ya ass smellin’ like a burnt TV dinner”
“I’m Out” >>>
He had an Eek the Cat/Sharky reference on this tape as well that made me smile
much respect to him for making this free – great album
i smoke a newport before a blunt like it’s an appetizer
Wet a nigga like dark skin Jermaine suede/Stuntin in the hood nigga/bound to pull gats/rob a nigga like Brenda trying to sell crack
when i heard that, that’s what did it. when he wove those two people together. plus that track is FIRE. I’m checkin this now, damn, I’m still listening to DSOM4. LOL
I never ever comment on yall’s posts here but I gotta rep the mitten! I love seeing you guys giving so much love to Michigan artists, gives us something to be proud of up here!
“You rap like you used to hit the pipe/Nah nigga that ain’t crack that’s crack-head shit!”
*dead*
That cover is sick.
Taking a chance cause ya’ll are co-signing and I’m checkiin Generation Rx. As always, RMF! what’s good LC!
Been bumpin’ this dudes music since I realllly listened to Contra… dude’s punchlines are spaced-out in left field.
correction: “Contra”, that is…
guy should be a star tbh
“im off them pills that had Carlton dancin fast” had me lol’n for hours
The last couple of years, when it starts getting cold outside, I’ve always made sure I had a CD with the 14KT Remix of Danny Brown’s “Dance”. Don’t know why, just know I had to hear it.
