I’ve only had my beloved iPhone 3GS since November, but I can tell you that it has changed my whole perspective of any other smart phone. In this short time, it has also thwarted my love for my Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, all to focus on the superior and unique gaming capabilities of this Apple-made super device.

So it wasn’t to my surprise when Sega (gave in and) announced its release of the first offical video game emulator to the iPhone. The emulator will feature a handfull of classic Genesis titles to be relived on your iPhone… for a nominal fee. The emulator is now free, but you buy your selected titles inside the app, which is brilliant. Sonic and Ecco the Dolphin are now at your finger tips.

There’s two things I will say about this. This app is a good look for the more casual gamer and owner of an iPhone, as it brings both the emulator and game to the phone with ease. And for prices of about $4.99 per title, you’re paying the same to play these games on any other system. This is what Sam looks for in his dates and games: cheap and easy.

However, considering the iPhone can be jailbroken with ease and for free, and you can get this same emulator and ALL the Genesis titles for FREE, I’ll stick with my nerdy ways of playing classic games, thankyouverymuch.
