Wow.
If you thought Late Night With Jimmy Fallon itself was bad, how about this unsettling lunch menu NBC offer(ed) ‘in honor of’ of Black History Month? Questlove obviously didn’t think too highly of it, as he TwitPic’ed the snapshot on @questlove, while pointing a big, black finger at NBC’s Public Relations department, who immediately issued a retraction.
I bet Popeyes is pissed they lost a whole month of catering.

No watermelon or Kool-Aid?
Sounds like a banging lunch.
The only problem is the Kool Aid & Banana Pudding wasn’t on the menu.
Jalapeno Cornbread sounds hella tasty too.
Am I wrong for thinking this menu is the come-up for that price?
I mean – Cause I eat fried chicken am i setting the race back?
and the bigger question is, What in the fugging blue blazes is jalapeno pepper cornbread??
Eh, this is probably no more offensive to black folks then the continued existence of Michael Steele.
Bring your own Grape Faygo
Cue up the Dave Chappelle skit… I’m genetically predisposed to liking chicken.
Bring your own Grape Faygo
=============================
Faygo is the black soda of choice if there ever was one.
I prefer Peach flavored myself.
I mean, they honored Black History Month by making good food and people get mad?
What’s wrong with Fried Chicken, Greens & Black Eyed Peas?
@ everyone that may fuss over this;

Call me a traitor to the race but that menu sounds good and for Manhattan those prices are right. LOL!!!
Co-sign with Bigga. That menu looking mad tasty. I think the problem is that they won’t serve food that good any other month. LOL.
Questlove is absolutely right about this fuckery…I’d be pissed too if they didn’t have mac & cheese and yams!
Black History my ass
Man that sure looks good to me. Maybe as an act of apology, NBC could cater that menu at affiliates across the country for 200 people or so.
No Grape Drink…
They played this during the lunch reception: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYqM9-Fj0Pg
Nigga what the fuck is juice?
All I wanna know is where’s my red koolaid in my mayo jar?
how the fuck is that racist i been eatin chicken and cornbread and shit all day. cmon people.
If they really wanted to get bold, they’d throw some chitlins on the menu. It might be biased, but it’d be worth it to watch Fallon, Lorne and all them unfunny sheltered-ass white folks chow down on a couple full plates of steamed pig intestines with a thing of hotsauce to wash it down.

*dead*
@ El Rosando
Man I clicked that link and got lost in a 35 minute chappellathon
@ David Davidson…
I got a fucking great laugh out of ‘noooo mo’ baaaacon’. Man, that was funny.
sound like a good ass meal to me
damn thats fucked up but i cosign random guy lol
i actually i just ate some cornbread too haaa
The title raised an eyebrow but that lineup looks nice. All i’d need to go w/ that is some Cola Lacaye, Goya soda or some C&C as a last resort. If anything they should have dope plates like that more often instead of throwing Black History Month a bone like this.
So yeah I’m not all that offended. I’m hungry more than anything just looking at that menu.
Here’s the core point I think every (justifiably) outraged person is getting at: it’s not that food isn’t delicious (it is) or cheap (i would personally force this menu upon every restaurant in town three times a week if i could), it’s that you can’t help but picture administrators getting their laugh on looking at black people tearing this shit up (we will be).
I’m surprised no one has suggested the opposite scenario: what if this is the only time of year the cafeteria crew can get something they want to eat on the menu (especially at NBC, and yes I am assuming the majority of them find fried chicken fantastic).
This could be less Willie Lynch and more Sambo.
So real revolutionaries don’t eat chicken???
The “In Honor Of..” part effed ‘em up.
If that was just the menu, Questo would prolly have gotten seconds.
Racist as fuck, but sounds delicious.
This is a bangin Lunch, but the years of stereotypes and racism have forced Black people to put up walls.
You don’t want to overly upset then your the “Angry Black Man”
You don’t want to go along with it too eagerly then “your the Office Oreo”
I guess the best bet is point out the idiot-icy while try making light of the situation
So umm Where’s the Red Kool Aid
Im sorry but what is racist about this. act like that isnt the same thing at some of your bbq’s. If they had an asian themed day and sesame chicken and shit was on the menu you think anyone would care, nahhh. Get over it, this shit isnt even bad
Watch em have arroz con pollo and flan for Hispanic Heritage Month.
But yea like homey said, if it didnt have the In Honor of title…
Everybody woulda been suckin on chicken bones at lunch.
Point is……it should not be assumed that ALL black folk eat “soul food”. I’m from the dirty dirty and I don’t eat chitterlings (in
Madea/Tyler Perry voice). Not a fan of black eye peas or collard greens. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll eat it if it’s prepared for me, but I doubt I’ll ever prepare it for myself. I won’t kill anyone for chicken either. Why do OTHER people act like they don’t eat yard bird just as much as anybody else?!?!!??
Truth be told, I understand it to be that impoverished black folk eat quite a bit of chicken because it’s one of the least expensive meats to buy.
It’s like saying ALL Mexican Americans eat tacos or ALL Asian Americans eat rice.
I could get ignant and say: I guess the food usually tastes like styrofoam and flavorless when it’s not black history month.
Oh, being that I’m a southerner I have to deal with idiot Rednecks on a daily. One of’em I work with asks me about some B.S. called Polly Pop. I’m like WTF is that?!!??! It supposedly is a term used backnaday by black folk for soda.
I asked Ma dukes about it and even she could barely remember that ish.
They think they know, but they have no idea.
*DECEASED* @ Breakfast Song.
Maybe I’m being naive or missing something, but how is that racist? Black History Month celebrates black culture which is food and in my experience eating with black people, aside from the aquafina this is what black people eat. I mean not all the time. Is eating fried chicken so much a stereotype that black people cant eat it anymore? Fuck that…Im Mexican and Lebanese and Ill eat falafel or enchiladas any fuckin time i dont care if someone walks by chuckling in their head thinking “typical”….i know not all black people eat soul food but it is a huge part of african american cuisine…i will say that its prolly not that healthy so save it for special events or only once a week
“Well, they asked me to put together a menu honoring Black history Month so….”
