Words by Landon A.

With snow draping much of the Midwest there’s not much for a studious young college student to do on his day off than burn one and listen to the vinyl that’s accumulated over the last month or so. Odly enough, around the same time I re-discovered my dusty copy of reggae singer John Holt’s 1983 single “Police in Helicopter” so did Bama’s own Rich Boy.As an ode to his favorite herbal supplement and the crooked Jake that try to keep him from enjoying his lady, Rich Boy revamps the classic reggae joint with his country drawl, switching back and forth between his signature flow and a cover of the original chorus.

While snow piles up outside my window and stretches further south to places it hasn’t visited in years, it’s joints like this that turn an afternoon with a space heater to an afternoon in the islands.
