“I just think in Hip-Hop, when a trend becomes a gimmick, it’s time to move on. I saw a Wendy’s commercial and they’re using Auto-Tune. They’re joking on it. It’s like, OK, enough of that... It was a trend, it was cool in the beginning. Some people made great music with it, now it’s time to move on.”– Jay-Z
Back when Ron Browz was poppin’ champagne and that one DJ was doing whatever he was doing, we probably would have got a kick out of this; knowing that a trend of our culture had broken into the mainstream rather quickly. But seeing that there’s been a significant drop of random Auto-Tuners since funeral services were held and Bud Light’s corny clip is about eight months too late, it gives us even more reason to celebrate the recently Grammy-annointed, “D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune).”
We give T-Pain his props but that’s where it stops, it’s the Roc [Nation].

While watching the commercial during the game I thought….
“Man even T Pain gots to see now that its wa- oh, nevermond.”
@ Cell E. Bet
I thought the same thing more or less when I saw that commercial.
Sure.
But Jay can still kick rocks. That DOA shit was tepid at best.

word.
I say judge it on a song by song basis. Is that so hard?
I thought this commercial was great until i saw T pain..
i actually like his music but his foolishness over acting like he created autotune is ridiculous…
Remember when P. Diddy was talking about paying royalties to T-pain when Last train to Paris dropped …that was the breaking point it had gotten so damn ridiculous.
“We give T-Pain his props but that’s where it stops, it’s the Roc [Nation].”
nice.
Whether you liked DOA or not I think the message of the song was very necessary. I was done with the effect after I’m Sprung. It just perpetuates the lack of creativity in hip hop. Not that if you use it you’re not creative but everybody was exhausting it in the same way and it was lame looooong before Jay made the song.
Thank God I’m not the one who didn’t like “I’m Sprung.” It took “Buy You a Drank” for me to get the hang of him. That song is a straight up classic.
With that said, I hope that SuperBowl is the last we see of this commercial.
I still F**ks wit ya Pain.
um yeah fuck that shit
sidenote: I swear I heard the guitar from DOA in an Allman Brothers song.
Wait, Last Train to Paris dropped?
um oops i mean f that s new yorkers what they gotta hate for its music music is made to be enjoyed he mad cause pain s word got the club to were it needed to be so people could have ah goodtime
He wouldnt have did anything if he never had his Album coming out.
If D.O.A. killed autotune then this commercial shot up the casket at the funeral
if autotune is bullshit…
i was so pissed when i finally listened to DJ Drama & R. Kelly – The Demo Tape…fuckin R Kelly autotuned…why the fuck would 1 of the greatest sangers of all time jump on the gimmick? i tossed the disc out the window of my car.
I haven’t listened to R. Kelly in a minute.
