At TSS, we mostly avoided discussion of Timbaland’s Shock Value II. If Timbo’s done with Hip-Hop then why not be done with him?
More importantly, the album could definitely have been a cornerstone in TC’s latest Brick House. Timbo’s wholesale fascination with making fluffy teen pop by bringing in the latest idols du jour degrades the man’ legacy. This is the same guy that made “Dirt Off Your Shoulder?”
Yet a hitmaker will always be a hitmaker, and no matter how I tried to dismiss the entire project, I have to admit that he can still make great records. Lead single “Carry Out,” is heading straight to #1 on the charts. At least respecting the JT-Timbo combo is acceptable in most Hip-Hop circles.
But a Timbo-Chad Kroeger combination? That’s straight up shameful. Yet the two combine for the best track on the album, a perfect potion of electro-pop backdrops and emotive crooning. The song’s subject remains unclear after a few listens, are Timbo and Chad reconnecting with squabbling lovers or going on drinking binges to avoid them? But no matter, the song’s infectious combination of melody and rhythm have me singing along. Guilty as charged.

Download — Timbaland Feat. Chad Kroeger – “Tomorrow In A Bottle”

I liked the first 4 songs only.
Shoulda been a maxi-single.
no matter how I tried to dismiss the entire project, I have to admit that he can still make great records

Somehow that album made it’s way back onto the iPod.
This joint is dope but that song with Miley Cyrus gets much burn.
Do I lose my Hip-Hop pass now?
Nope. 1st time I could honestly say I heard a Miley Cyrus on a track and she killed it lol
But like Teef said, it is top heavy.
You’ve got to be kidding me. Im all for broadening your horizons but Nickelback has to be one of the worst bands in my opinion and chad kroeger is probably the reason. But understand before i posted this comment i listened to maybe give a chance but it is garbage man im sorry.
A little off subject but if you do want a good band to check for check out Incubus..real talk.
I can’t fuck with this at all….
you know, if he really REALLY wanted to, Timbaland could push out 10 singles from his album…
He could literally take over radio. He could push tracks with Drake,Justin and Brandy (Bran’Nu) to the urban stations.
Stuff like the Daughtry,One Republic and Chad Kroeger songs to the adult contemporary stations.
And of course the Katy Perry,Justin,Miley type tracks towards the top 40 stations.
Question is, does he wanna take over like that?
oh and @ Patrick, Incubus is always some good stuff. Doesn’t matter which album it’s coming from of theirs.
I ain’t mad at Tim… He knows from a commercial viability stand point, hiphop ain’t rolling like that anymore. The budgets just aren’t there and the marketing opps are drying up as well.
He can do this stuff in his sleep; plus he gets those mainstream clubs and teenyboppers and 20somethings jumpin and he can extend his career another 5 years.
Tim might come back to the block in a few summers, but he’s loadin up on screw you money for now.
Looking at Timbaland always makes me laugh. Dude has the googliest eyes I’ve ever seen.
^yea his facial expressions are hilarious.
Sidenote: Gotty did you get the new Lupe track for Haiti ? http://ow.ly/1ni2TE

Definitely nowhere near the best track on the album, lol.
It’s listenable, but it’s still Chad Kroger.
i didnt know that ol timbo was still relevant in the hip-hop industry, hmph well what do you know u really could learn something new everyday.
I can’t fuck with this at all….
======================================
Co-sign. This is crap, Timbaland done fell the fuck off after the Timberlake/Nelly Furtado albums, and it seems that he’s desperately trying to regain the popularity and status that he built off of his earlier work. He’s just mad that he ain’t getting the acknowledgement he once garnered, so he claims that he’s “done with hiphop”.
I’m not feeling this track cause Chad sounds kinda awkward on it. But I can see how Timbaland’s career is getting a second wind off of songs like this.
I shitted on this one early, but it’s actually a pretty good Pop album. Like yomitsuki (?) said, there are a gang of single choices on here.
I think the label chose the wrong ones but it is what it is.
Meet In Tha Middle (featuring Bran’ Nu) is actually pretty dope too. Moesha got spit lol.
^ Bran’ Nu….lol
their raps make me laugh, esp. when Brandy starts rapping all that “…you did me dirty, dog, cuz you’s a dirty dog…”
I ain’t gonna lie, though…my play count for that song on my iTunes says 8, not counting the whip, either….shit sounds nice in the whip/hooptie
and now, thanks to this post, I’m giving that song Amp mentioned additional spins, lol
shit goes, what can I say?
*Kanye shrug*
” Lead single “Carry Out,” is heading straight to #1 on the charts. At least respecting the JT-Timbo combo is acceptable in most Hip-Hop circles.”
PM…dog…do you realize that Burger King probably paid Timbo to make this song? I aint just bein funny either. Listen to how many times they say ‘have it your way.’
Shit’s a fucking 3-minute long radio ad for whopper jrs.
true story.
i like the handclaps in “Meet In Tha Middle”
Brandy starts rapping all that “…you did me dirty, dog, cuz you’s a dirty dog…”
=======================================
That’s my line lol.
Shorty got a story to tell and it seems she’s gonna try & flip the format, part songstress, part MC.
It worked for Drake, right?
^ if she can pull it off, then more power to her. the lane’s all her’s for the taking
“…the googliest eyes I’ve ever seen.”

LOL
“How You Remind Me” should be on a list of the best rock songs of the 2000′s. When it came out I was working in an office full of caucasian women and one of them burned the CD for me. The other songs were pure trash.
Still an awesome song though … dude’s voice isn’t bad … he just uses it wrong (No Jigga).
Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Not really bad at all, just okay. Kroeger on the hook is pretty decent. And yes, How you Remind Me is still a pretty hot song, even if the band in general is a bit “meh”.
very nice song.chad, fuck all d haters.you will always be my idol…..nice song.cant wait for chads solo album
